So yeah this dude spent 5 years and 15000 hours of his life to make this game for DS. I watched the non-annotated version first, and was still impressed, but the one with annotations makes it much more interesting. Im very impressed at this guys skill. He's looking for a publisher, and I hope he gets one.

I rather agree with you on this one....Aside from the fact that a majority of the time spent designing a video game goes to what he explains in the video, I found that the game itself was rather empty and uninteresting.....hopefully that's just because he was doing a demo of the semantics of it.

That's exactly what I thought. It's just a demonstration on all the work he had to put in it. He doesn't explain the story, or the gameplay (outside that there's no random battles), he just mentions stuff he did: pixel art, music samples, real-time interaction (day change, people migrate to different areas, etc). I'm very impressed he did this all by himself, and if he has a good story behind it, then hell yeah I'll buy it. When people heard that Shadow of the Colossus was going to be just boss battles, they were skeptic... and yet the game is absolutely innovative and engrossing.

As someone who has designed Flash games, the fact that he made something (supposedly) as large entirely by himself is incredibly impressive.

yes it is, and there's quite a lot more than what you see here.

this is really only a walk-around to show the size of the world and some engine features, i deliberately avoided showing dialogue or events because there's quite a few tricks up my sleeve i want to keep secret for now...

Comment from Bob, taken from the youtube comments. The way I saw it was that the video just shows how the world looks, sounds, the random people that do things (order fast food, go to the bank, etc.) If anything, he'll probably make another video to show some of the rpg aspects, because I highly doubt he expects to make any money off of it if there's nothing to actually do.
