Your favorite cocktail?

Just thought I would ask all you BG folks.

I just started drinking, never really had an interest in it growing up, but now that I am 22, alot of my friends have started to go to cocktail "lounges" more.

I've not had much, only a few that I actually liked even.

I really like Mojitos, and I've had a few others...like Lemondrops and Manhattens.

Any suggestions on drinks to try?

Not *too* femmy either, no cosmos...I would feel weird drinking a pink martini <.<

I didn't order it, a friend did for me. It was a little odd cause it is kinda femmy, but it did taste good atleast. :/


Oh, and I don't "drink" them, I had one. From what I've tasted, I'd order a Mojito over anything thus far.

Can't go wrong with Grey Goose and any sort of fruit flavored drink.

Margarita's or tequila shots only for me... anything else gives me a horrible headache come 30 minutes or so later. It sucks cause Tequila is pretty much one of the most expensive liquir's you can buy

edit: btw - don't judge a drink by its "color," your gonna miss out on some really good non-feminine drinks

Anytime I want something refreshing I'll either go for a Mojito or a Pimm's Cup cocktail with mint. I could drink either of those by the gallon. However, I hate places that make mojito's really sweet or, god forbid, with 7-UP or Sprite instead of soda water, bleh.

Other than that I'm partial to classic cocktails like the Manhattan. Although where I live getting one of those that actually tastes good isn't easy. Most places go overboard with the sweet vermouth and make it this sugary undrinkable mess. The vermouth should just cut the edge of the whiskey and the bitters add some bite back, but the entire cocktail should retain the complexity and depth of the whisky. The Metropolitan variation is nice too, substituting brandy or cognac for the rye and upping the ratio of base liquor to vermouth.

Or I'll just settle for a gin martini with a twist of lemon.

I don't remember what's in it, but I think Suicides are pretty good. Although, one of my favorites has to be a Caesar/Bloody Mary. Just no tequila... >.>;;; bad memories....

Caipirinha, hands down. Traditionally made w/ limes, sugar, ice and cachaça (a type of Brazilian liquor distilled from sugarcane, almost like rum, if you will), but can be found in a wide variety of fruit flavors, like passion fruit, kiwi, strawberry, etc. If you guys like Mojitos, be sure to try one. Not too uncommon in the US, but probably easier to find in the bigger cities. There's a variation called ‘‘Caipiroska’’, where the cachaça is replaced by the more easily attainable vodka. Tastes almost the same.

When I can't have one of those, I'll settle for a Midori Sour, or just Baileys on the rocks, although I think these last two are categorized as dessert drinks.

P.S. I'm sure there's been a similar topic about this a few months ago.

Oh having researched more triple sec based cocktails it turns out I've had quite a number of them, but due to the nature of the base ingredients (in this case, cointreau, 40% proof triple sec) I don't remember a very many of them. I can say I enjoyed one called the Scoundrel, which is a double shot of triple sec, splash of coke and a single icecube.

1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz rum
1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur
2 oz sweet and sour mix
2 oz 7-Up® soda

Pour all ingredients except the 7-Up into a chilled glass filled with ice cubes. Top with 7-Up and stir gently.

tequila boom - sprite and tequila in an eight ball glass or w/e they are called (the scotch glasses i think)... put a napkin over top of it cover with ur hand, smash it on the counter which fizzes it all up real good then u grab it and chug it u dont taster the tequila at all and u get really smashed really quick
