Trying to get rid of a virus found in Fraps

Hmm, i recently reformatted and downloaded fraps off a torrent. I scanned it before even installing and Avast didnt pick up anything. So i recorded shit while i was playing ffxi here and there and now a few days later i ran a full scan and Avast picked up a trojan worm in Fraps. So i deleted it and stuff but since its a worm im not sure if its spread or not, more importantly im afraid about my pol account/password.

Should i just go ahead and reformat everything once again and change password ? Btw while on the topic of reformatting, can anyone tell me how to exactly put FFXI in a different partition while putting mozilla/everything else in another? Does Windows go in both or how does it work, thanks.

If you post the name of the trojan, it can be researched and people will be able to tell you whether it's actually a threat or not.

Additionally, I wouldn't recommend formatting and reinstalling Windows every single time you see a virus report, since many of them can be false alarms, minor viruses, and so on, so forth. While it's important to be careful and I understand being protective of your things, it's just as bad to be paranoid as it is to be careless.

Since Avast is running all the time and will usually tell you when something installs itself on your computer, I wonder if this is a false alarm. If you have it on high detection there's a chance it is detecting FRAPS as a virus because of the way it works--it does hook itself into other applications, after all--so it's probably a false alarm.

says warning on the install file for fraps, Win32-Trojan-gen found! However i already installed it before and that sign never showed up.

Sounds like a false alarm to me.

If you torrented it, it's most likely just the crack thingy, they usually alert scanners. So to quote Kohan, false alarm.
