I hate GM's policies on not ever being able to do anything, ever. Honestly, what can they do? Unstuck someone? Put them in jail? Luckily I never see anyone stuck, but that kinda just makes me a bit more upset at GM's in general.
Sux, /comfort
Sometimes one for the other. Once my LS found a way up to a grassy area in Windy, just a 'running against something until you get through' (like the falling off the airship trick), and they got jailed for it. Whole big group of people stuck up there, and the GM jailed them for assumedly pos hacking.
Fun times.
Theoretically, you and your friends could all be simultaneously disconnected if you live in the same general area, and all of your different ISPs are connected to the same backbone. Of course, that doesn't mean that's what happened, as I highly doubt it.
I understand, however, why the GMs can't do anything about this. For one, their call center is undoubtedly completely separate of the building where the servers are held, and they surely do not communicate with the IT department. Additionally, they have no way of knowing if such a disconnect was deliberately choreographed by the players or not. Without any way of verifying your claim, and without any way of monitoring your communications outside of FFXI, they would have to simply trust you, and that's not how corporations do their business.
Compensation certainly would be nice, but even when it's server wide, all they're responsible for is an apology. Your characters belong to them, after all.
Yeah, thats why I just told the guy what I did. In any case its only ISNM. Not like it was a BCNM. I was hoping the GM could possibly do something, but at the very least I got the incident reported and it'll be one step closer to being fixed.
Thats the bad thing about bugs, you gotta find them before they get fixed. And sadly, I found one @<@.
