Debit cards and PlayOnline payments (Its been asked before.)

So I have a question, I've seen other people ask before on here in the past but I can't remember what the answer was.

About a year ago, when I used my bank Visa card. I used it for FFXI and it charged me like 29.99 or something for one month of service (something about them charging two months in advance for debits only or something.

Can anyone confirm they still do this? I don't want to put 14.99 in my account or w/e and then they'll overdraft me for not putting 30 bucks in there.

I've been using my debit card (with master card logo) since opening day that october '03, and I've always been charged the standard rate~

If they are visa or mastercard, there is a good chance that you can. As long as you refill them before the billing cycle you should be okay too. Only thing I can think of is to have one prepaid to $15 and give it a shot. Worse comes to worst, you just use it to buy some gas or something.

i switched to a debit card at the start of this year and they charged me double.

used prepaid cards for the longest time but it wouldnt auto pay for some reason so i got my account closed at the start of every month which was annoying so i changed it

I recently came back in early Dec (but after billiing day) and wasn't charged but come Jan they billed me for double. It's the only time I've seen them do that.

Yes you can use prepaid cards, as long as they have the following:

Mastercard / Visa logo
Card number
Expiry date
CCV# (I think that's what it's called) on the back

Example: You activate Jan 7th for 1 char + 1 mule. Feb 1st your charged 27.90. March 1st your charged 13.95.

Ive only payed using debit for 5 years. Works fine. My friend payed a year using a $150 visa prepaid card he got as a gift. Worked fine till it ran out of money, then he had to switch to a credit card. There are no "Debit setup fees" or anything else. If your 100% positive you got charged wrong for anything, take it up with your bank, they will fix it with the company.

So out of curiosity, is there a certain day per-say that if you activate your content ID's with your new card (All my content IDs are unactivated atm). Can you avoid this double charge? Like do I need to activate on the first of the month to avoid this?

they always mess me about, one month i dont get charged, next month i get 3 months charges then the next month is owed...

very rarely i just pay the normal fee

Erm, if you want to pay with a debit card why don't you just put enough money in it that it won't get overdrafted and avoid the chance entirely? o.O;

Paying for something should be clean cut and simple. I don't see why the system runs so oddly. One month normal fee, next month double fee. Or somethings just double fee every 2 months to cover both months...

POL is "closed" the first of every month. So Feb 2 you can reactivate and on March 1st you will be billed for Feb + March.

You cant avoid the double bill unless your coming off of your free month brand new account thing.

Only times I am billed double is when I canceled my POL ID and reactivate it after the automatic billing day so next month the just bill me double. So if you started or reactivated your account the day after the automated bills are done, you're going to be billed twice next month and then just once every month. Never seen anything wrong with this.

Just thought I'd post this, since PlayOnline clearly states you will pay your bill upon reactivation with the next months fee together lol. Never noticed this.
