Oh man, that SEC Championship better be a good game. UF is on a tear right now not sure anyone can play with them at the moment.

If they all played on a neutral field, Florida (according to Vegas) would be favored against everyone. Oklahoma would be favored over Texas. Oklahoma and Texas (and USC) would be favored over Alabama. The spreads for USC vs Texas/Oklahoma wasn't reported, but I'm guessing would be pretty damn close.

I would think Texas/Oklahoma would have a slight edge against USC though.

obligatory "college football without playoffs = fail" post. When is obama gonna change it up, har har

Anyway, I don't think bama can hang with florida, but out of all the matchups I think it has the most potential. Should be a fun game..

I believe USC would be favored against Texas but probably a toss up (or possibly slight edge) to Oklahoma. I remember the last time Vegas released these hypothetical odds that USC was favored against everyone...and that was when Texas was undefeated.

I could be dead wrong, and they could come in and just crush them... but I think this is going to be a tough game for OU.

If Mizzou plays well enough to win, or Bama wins, Texas may end up benefitting from not having to play in the championship. I doubt it, but if OU barely pulls it off Texas could get bumped back up.

That would just end up causing more controversy I'd say (OU winning and Texas moving up while idle) but I won't say it's impossible. I mean, Texas won by just about the same margin this past week as OU and the Sooners passed them up, albeit they played a higher ranked team in the rivalry game.

It'd be hard to get an actual OU/Texas NC game, but of course there is still plenty of room for a loss in the bowls and conference championships. There's a decent possibility of ending up with split champions at the end of it all

If bama loses I'm pretty sure the polls have to go unanimously Florida 1 OU 2, and it still might not avoid OU/TX.

Fuck Texas. They should fall out of the top 25.

It's funny how, in the Big 12 argument, people forget about Texas Tech, well at least ESPN does. If you're saying Texas belongs in the champ. game because they beat Oklahoma, then what about Texas Tech? They beat Texas, therefore the argument that Texas fans are using is void. You can't solve the Big 12's problem with head to head matchups.

That said, NC game will be Oklahoma vs. Florida. At least, that's what I hope it will be.

Florida would have to look so absolutely fucking terrible in a win to not advance to the NC game. Even then, I think it would be immensely difficult to see a Texas/OU NC game. I'd put it somewhere between a .0001% and .0002% chance of actually happening. But hey, if it did happen, the BCS would burn to the fucking ground, and that would be great.

Texas / OU NC game would never happen, it's been said year after year that voters would never allow for a team that doesn't win their own conference to be ranked high enough to advance to the NC game.

I remember that discussion from all the rumblings around this area 2 years (3?) ago when they were talking about maybe having an OSU - Michigan rematch in the NC game.

Just because it's been said by talking heads doesn't make it true. If it is true, and Oklahoma loses Saturday, are the polls going to vault USC, Utah or Penn State over Texas into the title game?

(Just so we're clear, the answer is no).

Teams that haven't won their conference have made it to the NCG before (Nebraska, 2001, Oklahoma 2003). And although the system has changed so it's now more voter-heavy and less likely to happen, it's certainly possible for a team to not win its conference and make the NCG. This season, should Oklahoma lose this weekend, it will happen again.

That's a good point, although I can't imagine a scenario where Missouri will actually beat Oklahoma, but it would throw another huge wrench into the BCS. It seems that no matter what, the BCS is screwed yet again this year. Yet somehow I see all the execs smoking a cigar and kicking back enjoying their swimming pools full of money as they watch the BCS again be a major topic of discussion, so much that even a presidential candidate was asked to comment.
