PS3 and Bluetooth
I've been wondering, how come every wireless thing that is not the Sony controllers for the PS3 requires a USB adaptor? Is Sony selling the Sixaxis/DS3 at a loss or something? Seems like the technology should be cheap enough that third party controllers and the guitar hero guitar should make use of it rather than go USB adaptor way.
Anyone have any articles or know anything about it?

Isn't this the case for all modern-gen consoles? I've yet to to see a third-party alternative to the main controller (nunchuk on Wii remote doesn't count) on any system that doesn't connect wirelessly.

Conejita's Jolly
Trigger warning: Fuck your feelings.
Iirc, the transmission speeds between the two are exponential, USB beats BT at a rate of 500:1.
Edit: @ Post below: The BT protocol does not belong to Sony.

Sony is probably charging companies for people to connect through BT instead of a USB dongle...

On a semi related topic, I hate the fact that I had to buy a $15 dongle/remote to use my Logitech Harmony when I bought a PS3. I was even more upset when I learned that in order to be able to turn off my PS3 with the Harmony's off button I would have to shell out another $60 for a different dongle.

Better than the 360 where you have to buy EVERYTHING. At least PS3 comes with built in wi-fi and rechargeable controllers. Although I do agree, dongle is a funny word.
