Yup. They announced plans to liquidate today. They went into Ch 11 back in Nov, but now it's progressed to them closing the doors forever.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Bankrupt electronics retailer Circuit City Inc. said Friday it has asked for court approval to close its remaining 567 stores and sell all its merchandise.
The company said it has 30,000 employees.
In a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Circuit City - the No. 2 electronics retailer after Best Buy - said it had reached an agreement with four companies to start the liquidation process.
The company said it the sale would begin Saturday and run until March 31, pending court approval.
The economy is getting more and more scary...
Simultaneous posts ftl. However, mine has better formatting and is vastly superior.
I went to Circuit city the other day, and the A/C was off, it was all humid and smelled weird. This was a fairly new store too. The Employees were lackadaisical, and unhelpful. It was like going to Pop Copy. I'm not surprised it closed down. They sucked.
sale adds where?
Is there an echo in here? I'll be vulturous this Saturday.
ahh, finally found the post reply image. bought a copy of DMC4 and army of two game guide books for a penny each!
LOL pop copy... one good thing Circuit City was good for was the employees cared so little you could usually get them to take more off the price with ridiculous combination coupon deals on certain items. I remember scoring some $50 games for $10-15 using multiple coupons.
I guess that's why they are going out of business though...
Merged threads.
I told my friend and first thing he said was, "Shit... what happens to my TV warranty now?" =\
Been overpriced for years and has extremely shitty customer service. Good fucking riddance.
K-Mart is where its at.
They still have Kmarts? Haven't seen one down here in a long while. Only reason its bad news Circuit City is going down is now roughly 30,000 more people need to find new jobs.
Guess I should get there to blow the rest of this giftcard from a year ago on saturday. What should I get? It has 20bux on it, I'm thinking discounted ipod fm transmitter/car charger.
warranties will be fine, they are insured by a third party and will be honored.
i worked at best buy for years in high school and the summers of college and they always told us CC was going to shut down imminently. i used to use it as part of my pitch lol.
Hell yeah K-Mart still around, they are the "cockroaches" or "bebe's kids" if you will of retail. They don't die, they multiply.
As far as Circuit city goes, it sucks for the employees, but they never seemed to give a fuck as is whenever I used to shop there. Maybe they can get the unemployment office to give them customer service seminars for their new ventures into the world of retail.
It's the cold, harsh reality of the world. They can get over it.
The store layout was shitty, the customer service was shitty, and the prices and selection were shitty. It was always inferior to like every other electronics store in existence and I'm amazed it got so big.
I agree K-Mart is awesome, the same stuff/prices as Wal Mart but without the 50 billion douchebag shoppers there making your life miserable. Seriously every time I shop at Wal Mart I want to go kill a litter of kittens afterward.
Haha a Circuit City just opened up at the mall where I live last summer. So much for that idea I bet they're thinking.
