I think most the major flash cards for the ds already work on the dsi, just not for the "i" games. I have a supercard dstwo, works great on my DSiXL

Not really, flash cards that work on the DS and DS lite won't always work on DSi and DSiXL. DS and DS lite are able to load without the DS knowing the cart is not actually a game, where as DSi cards have to trick the DS into thinking it is a game and then load. I had an R4 (which I really liked with Wood firmware) for my DS lite but gave it as a gift and upgraded to a Acekard 2i since it allows use of Mirco SDHC cards. (Really recommended Acekard as I have no issue loading games)

Also, there is no known way to run downloaded games from the DS store but only games that are released on carts. Not sure if this was part of the question.

I checked into this recently for my DS Lite. From what I was told, they best ones are SuperCard's DSTWO (SCDS2) and Acekardt 2i, the former being the "better" one. I plan on buying the SCDS2 once I have money for it and the MicroSD and I find a "trusted" website.

Recommended before, but gbatemp has in-depth reviews on both of them. At least SCDS2's is from last year, so you'll have to see if some of it's promised features are available on their official forums. I'm pretty sure most/all are.

It has been done (hackmii.com/2011/01/sudokuhax-release), but as far as i know, there is no other known method, so a flash card is your only way, unless you happened to buy sudoku before it was fixed.

Also have an Acekard2i for my Lite and have overall been pleased with it. I still get the occasional freezing issue and in absence of firmware updates, some games need to be patched themselves. Typically they're distributed as ready to play in this case, so it may be best to wait a couple weeks after a game's release to avoid issues like freezing, dud saves, and other bugs. With a program like Moonshell, your DS can also double as an MP3 or movie player, but the latter requires the files to be encoded in a specific DPG format (the actual process I've yet to successfully figure out). But for example, with a 16gb MicroSD, I have like 100 games, 150 MP3s, and every episode of FMA:B on one cart with 3gb to spare. I have no excuse to ever be bored as long as I can keep the DS powered... which is really the only fault of Flash Carts since they drain the battery a bit more quickly to do what they do (5-7 hour life as opposed to maybe 8-9... seems to vary based on the game).

The SC DSTWO allows you to play gba games on a DSi as it has its own cpu in cart just for that (emulation with good compatibility). It's a completely unique feature of the cart (nothing else has this), but pointless if you never play gba games (few homebrew are taking advantage of the cpu as well). It also has built in SNES emulation support that's better/faster than normal (because it uses the onboard cpu).

Those are the two high end carts - expect to pay a bit more for them than say, an acekard 2i, which is simply capable of working on DSi but only in DS mode. If you don't care for DSi features or gba games, get a cheaper cart. Also check gbatemp.net - there may be other carts capable of full DSi mode and any info or better/informed opinions would likely be on gbatemp.
