Getting Back My Account By Notary.

Ok here is the deal my account got compromised in June of 08,
At this time i didn't think there was much i could do because i didn't have Original registration keys from 04, so i said to my self i have accomplished enough and didn't try to get my account back. Now that i have found out about level sync my RL best friend has also informed me that POL will give back accounts that have been compromised if you are Original Owner and can prove it with Identification, Well after talking with a GM today through the POL site, and answering some questions he sent me an email with the notary and instruction, but i noticed in the notary that it said i am not entitled to get my account back. If anyone knows about this can you give me some insight or is June to far back to get my account back. I don't care about a Roll back i just would like to play on my character again that i played for so long.
Any words of wisdom/hope?

Do it, it works. This is how my GF was able to get her account back (this year) after having it stolen in April '07. They say you are not entitled to get your account back as a safety thing and to keep things consistent with the ToS and the fact that SE owns all characters/accounts/etc.

i dont care about the restoration cause i know that takes investigation and time.
And after you sent in the notary how long did it take?

They wouldn't restore her character, but thankfully not much was lost (she didn't lose it to RMT, she lost it to a jerk, the details of which I'd rather skip). The reason they wouldn't restore it was because they hadn't started logging the relevant info in '07, that started in '08. She got her account back within two weeks. I think it was 5-8 days after they received the notarized letter.

I would say you have a fairly decent chance at getting a restoration if it was June '08.

If you have your POL ID and your name, you can use notary to get your account back, regardless of if you gave it away and haven't paid for it in over a year and don't know any of the current address/etc information.

The part where it says you have no legal right to the return of your account is just SE's way of covering their ass if something doesn't go according to plan, which, SE being SE, is entirely possible. My experience has been relatively painless so far though.

Like Tubbers says, it works. Long story that I won't bore you with, but it took me 3~ weeks for a recovery from the day they emailed me the notary form. That was with all information except my original credit card #; they verified my last billed card # instead. If you lost your original reg codes I've read you can somehow have it set up with SE customer service so you never have to verify them again.

Rollback requires a second form, but I'm not sure if you'll need to send it since they'll already have the restoration form on file and it trumps the rollback one. I did the rollback form before the restoration form thanks to an idiot service rep, difference being the rollback form just asks for a copy of your license or photo ID and the restoration form takes a notary's seal (which you can probably get for free, maybe for a small fee, at your bank). Then because they didn't have the notarized recovery form, they made me send that before they'd process the restoration. They'll want to know when you were last on the account (down to the date and time of day) and what ISP you had connected from, if you ever connected from anywhere other than that ISP, and what email address they sent the forms to. As for the time frame, you can roll back an account as far as January of 2008 according to Chris at SE customer service, so if you last played in June of '08 you should be fine.

I've been in rollback since February 14th now. Gaiters and 60m or so in gear hanging out there and me hoping SE gets it right because they won't do another rollback if they fuck it up...they quoted me a one week time frame on it but the jury is still out. Talk about cliffhangers. Anyway, that's just my experience so far, hope something in there helps.

PS. I'd do a format and a fresh install of Windows, as well as make sure your Firefox/Noscript and anti-spyware software is up to date, before you even think of punching any info into PlayOnline again. Not sure what your hijaack circumstances were but if it was a logger it's better to be safe than sorry. Losing that hidden porn stash sucks, but you can re-dl that...you only get one data recovery!!

Edit: Make sure you call and bug them about it! I called yesterday and they hadn't even started a rollback, and bingo they just finished it today. Posting back later about the rollback's accuracy...
