    Building a new gaming PC

Building a new gaming PC but I'm not really huge into hardware. I was looking for something that would work quite well at the moment but would be readily upgradeable (i.e. another GTX285 for SLI, more RAM, possibly different processor, etc.). Does this fit the bill?

    Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster T240 24IN
    PSU: Corsair TX750W
    Mobo: ASUS P6T X58 Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core
    Memory: Corsair XMS3 Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D 6GB
    GPU: EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 285 Ssc 702MHZ 1024MB 2.646GHZ
    Case: Coolermaster CAC-T05 Centurion 5
    HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA2 7200RPM

Any suggestions? I know nothing about overclocking, but what would be the best way to go about it with this setup if I chose to?

You will need an aftermarket cooler if you plan to overclock. There aren't many on the market yet for the i7 but this one has been getting great reviews:

    Newegg.com - Noctua NH-U9B 92mm SSO CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks - $50

They also make a 120mm horizontal-orientated model for $65 in case you want something with a bit more cooling power. There's another 120mm model they make for $5 less but the fan/heatsink is vertical and it's so big people have been having trouble fitting in their case.

BTW excellent choice of monitor! I have two Samsungs myself and they're great. Just a heads up - the base is a pain to attach so be firm but gentle, push on metal NOT plastic, and use some vaseline if you need it.

Slight derail. How far OC do you guys think an XFX 285 can go? Base is 648 I think.

    "Compatibility Socket 754 / 939 / 940 / AM2 / LGA775"

get a TRUE black and a 1366 bolt threw kit off Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

thats what i did runs my 920 at 19c idle and never goes over 31c at 100% load

these both come with the bolt threw kit included in price first is TRUE black second is normal TRUE

also not sure how much the corsair ram is atm but last i checked OCZ gold is cheaper and better timings. 3x2gb OCZ gold 7-7-7-24 1600MHz was 105$ last i checked also go with vista x64 to take advantage of 6gm of ram its smokin fast on i7 platform

I've had good luck with the Gigabyte DS4 and UD3 mobo's both reaching 3.6ghz with very little drama.

Thanks for the help. I placed the order today. This should be a pretty big improvement over this Pentium D/Radeon 1600XT setup.
