Angrathar cut scene

Not going to spoil anything for anyone, but I just watched the cutscene at Angrathar at the end of that quest line and holyfuckmyballs it was awesome. Is there more shit like that in wrath or was Angrathar kinda it?

For now, that's kinda it. Any other 'in game graphics' style movies are all fan-made.

But at least you can talk to Alexstrazsa now at any time at wrathgate and rewatch it.

there's only that one for now... but if you want more epicness do the quests in Icecrown there's no cutscene at the end, like wrathgate, but its still pretty awesome. (it beats the Quests you do after the Cutscene)

also, WotLK is supposed to be a 3 part story (i think it was said on a blizzcast) and Angrathar is part 1, so im assuming there will be 2 more cutscenes added at some time... unless the Icecrown quests count as part 2

There's a very long questline that starts in the heart of the pit underneath icecrown citadel. It's got what you're talking about contained therein. It's pretty cool

Though I don't understand how Fordragon and Saurfang can manage to work together and then Blizzard still have there be 'two factions', of course then there's the whole Undead apothecary thing too. To be honest I think it'd be kind of cool to see some sort of Horde+Alliance raid type thing nearing the end of WotLK, would be quite hard to get organized of course (among various other problems).

What do you mean? The only information Wrynn apparently got was that an army flying the banner of The Forsaken ambushed his troops at Angrathar, so the only people who really know about their working together are now dead (except you). The animosity between the Alliance and Horde runs too deep to be forgotten over one battle.

I heard about everyone creaming their pants over this. I had never completed "On ruby wings" cause the quest was fuckin stupid and never worked right.

I expected some godly uber ass pwn cut scene but it was goddamn awful. Sure it was neat and all but the graphics were low as balls. It sucked extremely bad. I guess it goes to show anyone who has never played an MMO outside of WoW wouldn't know a real cut scene.

Way to sound like a douche. So because it doesn't fit your standards for a cut scene, it's not a "real" cut scene? I found the ones in other MMOs boring, most notably FFXI. I found the Angrathar cutscene exciting largely because there are so few of them in the game. It was a really nice little treat. Doesn't have to be "When Alexstrazsa flew in, and deep breathed the Forsaken I--jizzed in my pants" awesome for people to enjoy it. I don't think anyone plays WoW for its breathtaking realistic graphics. So go take a chill pill, smoke a joint, w/e - if I want to watch some "real" cut scenes I'll pop in Lost Odyssey in my 360. Is that alright?

Yeah! Real cutscenes take half an hour and feature pre-rendered gay boys dripping with zippers and buckles dancing around with combination sword-whips while a j-pop singer provides a stirring musical backdrop. Also there are robots. And a pet hamster.

The reason they went CS format over in game CS format is due to the amount of models they were loading up at once.

Imagine someone on a really shitty PC, hell even someone with an uber PC wouldn't be able to play that CS if it were to run from your PC instead at a decent rate.

I watched it and it was really really nice, when people said "Amazing cutscene" they were talking about the awesome storyline, not the graphics. Anyone with even 1/16th of a brain could see this.

Although with blizzard's budget, dunno why they didn't go all out with a SE style CS, however if it was time constraints I can completely understand as the amount of time it takes to render that stuff is insane, dumbing down the graphics to use in game models is a much cheaper/faster option.

The Angrathar cut scene is, as far as I can tell, the only in-game cinematic of its kind in MMO-space. The closest thing are the FFXI-style mission/quest cutscenes where player models are moved around but the spoken dialogue is mute and there is minimal sound engineering going on.

Why go with in-game models rather than build new ones from scratch and render them opening cinematic style? I think it has a lot to do with keeping the models recognizable to player for such an important lorepoint.

I'm pretty sure it was a bug, not everyone got it. I remember a couple Scarab Lords having it, and a lot of gnomes.
