Not sure if this deserves it's own thread but rumor is it's footage from the game GRIN was doing for SE. Looks interesting to say the least, XI/XII action oriented style.

ZZZ Looks a lot like XII by world-style. Action oriented is interesting, could have potential.

World does look similar, as well as blocking and striking animation, character and armor design are different though.

Might be the same engine; The chocobo is definitely the same as FFXII's. I prefer the concept art, but this is deep in development, so w/e.

Assuming it is connected to FFXII and it does take place afterwards, it might fully explain the technological drop between FFXII and Tactics/VS. FFT's explanations were decidedly unreliable.

I haven't been following XIV very closely, so for the XIV people has there been any footage released or seen that is similar to this?

The desert looks like its right out of FFXII, what other FF's have a similar desert (X is the only one that even comes close).

Edit: XI if you count mmo's. It actually looks like a stage from The Last Remnant after reviewing it.

Don't know about that, unless someone put the concept art in between after the fact, they are using the same concept art that GRIN was working on. Also to my knowledge GRIN was not working on FF14 at all.

It's obviously not XIV footage. If it really is part of the Final Fantasy franchise, I am not excited about it being action-based whatsoever. The genre feels flooded as of late and then we have abominations like Crystal Bearers...

The timeline of Ivalice as presented in the games was left quite vague, and formerly other official sources had said little on the matter. A few sources have made their own conclusion on the timeline of Ivalice.[19][20] The official timeline, however, was eventually given in the Final Fantasy XII Ultimania Omega, and placed the events of Final Fantasy XII before those of Final Fantasy Tactics.

There is no direct mention of Ivalice in Vagrant Story. However, several references are made; the Kingdom of Valendia, the setting for Vagrant Story, shares its name with a continent of Ivalice appearing in Final Fantasy XII. The Kiltia religion, featured in Final Fantasy XII, was the religion of the ghost town Leá Monde, in which the story takes place. Additionally, a quotation from Alazlam J. This reminds me of when people tried to figure out the zelda timeline.... then people thing there are 2 time lines going on at the same time etc etc.
