A lot of companies do things like this, especially when there are multiple people applying for the same job. They'll do this to whittle down potential people and they use this to see who actually really wants the job. Most people if they're determined to work will come in at a moments notice to interview if they're that desperate to have a job.

When I was applying for my current position, I had a call that afternoon and I had to have my offer letter faxed back that evening from an email along with my unrinalasys scheduled that day. You just got to do what you got to do in order to get employed in today's market.

I don't see how they expect people to huddle over their internets at 9 PM waiting for this email when they didn't say that they would send one. Not to mention expect people to not have shit to do the next day even if they happened to see it.

It sucks, I'm not arguing that. Management can pull whatever bullshit they choose to, whether or not it is morally right and/or fair; neither applicants nor actual employees can do much about it, unless they're breaking the law. Thanks a bunch, at-will employment.

As I work in this business (not Coldstone but Food Service), I would look at this e-mail two ways.

1> She is attempting to see who is capable of mobilizing quickly and bringing their best in such a short amount of time.

2> She forgot to send this e-mail out to applicants earlier in the week and is having a staffing issue and can't put this off another weekend. I would even venture that her area manager is attending.

Most of the time it's number 2.
