Will switching to a 2.7ghz from a 2.4ghz amd chip make a difference in FFXI it is the only AM2 duel core I can find up in canada anymore and i lag a bit in some areas.


This is my old pc i only play my alt on. I am just wondering if its even worth the $60.

If the CPU you have now is a single core Athlon, then the difference will be huge. If you're going from like a x2 4600 to a 5200 the difference will be negligble.

BTW have you been looking at online retailers (NCIX, Newegg.ca), Craigslist Canada or Ebay? You're certain to still find a decent choice of AM2 Athlon X2s if you do, tho it might not be as inexpensive as the one you found.

ffxi isnt threaded so .. dual core performance will be negligable except if you have more L1/L2 cache.. then its better. i sold my AMD and got an intel.. my room is ten degrees cooller now
