Asking for a favor (Graphic Artists, Photoshop'ists)

To Mods, I dont know where to post this, but in all fairness I actually tried to find the most appropriate place and it seemed general. Feel free to move if I was wrong with my apologies.

And another note - this isn't livejournaling. I've been really cautious to avoid my past MO. I DO have to give some background for the person who (hopefully) helps me with the favor.


I'm looking for help, a huge favor, from any kind soul that considers themselves either a photoshop wiz or just a good graphical artist. Unfortunately, I can't pay you royalties but I can give credit where it's due in print and for the hands that this is going to be in, it could help build a portfolio if thats your goal.

I have an EP/Promo CD launching in less than 2 months and I'm just not happy at all with the cover work. It's a trip-hop/electronica promo CD so if you want to use that as a source of inspiration great - but ultimately I'm only making the CD because I was asked to audition to compose an HBO show's soundtrack (dark and twisted was all I was told). There were several DJ's picked but apparently it wasn't a contest, it was a headhunt and this rep found me performing at the Note (a darker, rock oriented bar owned by Bam Margera). They asked for my promo pack, which I had, but no current Demo CD. Havent needed one til now. They approached me in late April/early May and gave me a deadline of submition of July.

I've already paid for it through Disc Makers, and the music is finished (after MONTHS of slaving over it) I just need the cover artwork.

Simple, to the point. It's just my Promo CD after all. It's intended to go with a promo pack and for booking and marketing of myself - not really to sit on a store shelf for retail.

I like the idea of just a face, blended or somehow artistic looking with the words:
DJ Wil - 2009 Promo


PM or email me for images to use or more details if you're up for it. Like I said, all credit will be in print and manufactured with the order of 1,000 copies I ordered.

Theres also a bunch of pics obviously in my myspace link in the signature if you can find a useable pic there. I have some friends that are into photography too if you really want to use a specific angle or ask me to take a certain type of pose for it. If it helps you, it helps me.

It'll say something to the effect of "Graphic Design and Cover Art: Name" and contact info.
I'll mail you a copy of the CD too to keep for your portfolio or just use as a coaster, whichever lol.

Got 2 people working on it, using this pic, which I began to edit with photoshop to remove the shadows behind me - and again, I fail with photoshop.

Well the PMs are sent, and she/he are working on it. The girl's prototype is very very on point. I say "the girl" because she hasnt yet told me if she's comfortable with releasing her name yet, or how so to announce it. All credit will be given.

I wish I couldve cleaned this up alot better, but whatever.

Figured I would just bump this thread rather than start a new one.

I'm more or less in need of some photoshop/graphic artists as well. My band is in the process of recording our first demo and we need a bunch of art work done. What I'm looking for right now is more or less some T-Shirt art and designs and/or possibly a band logo.

The band name is Searchlight Rescue.. We're a pop punk band. I'm pretty open to any ideas if anyone has any.
