How do you name your characters/account names?

Just curious if people have particular methods that they use or just kinda stick to the same few?

My FFXI name (see: left) was simple, just swapped the 'r' and the 'a' in armor and went paladin >_>

I usually use Vizier or Killbishop nowadays, not really sure where I picked either of those up but usually one isn't taken if the other is. I used to use 'Zold' a lot, mostly from my days of oldschool games where you couldn't have all that many letters/characters per name. Picked it up off an old gameboy game called Rolan's Curse II, and Zold was just the best thing since sliced bread on that game.

Anyway, just curious how other people do it

I nab them from books. A few of my FFXI characters (Username included) were from William Gibson novels, though due to Vent chat and the time I spent in FFXI I've become pretty attatched to the username and I use it where possible.

I also nick a few ideas from silly song titles or just random bits. My WoW main was named after my Grandfather's boat.

ha awesome, I also just remembered I named a lot of my alts after various seraphim/demons cause i'm kinda nerdy, although i suppose you could say i got 'em from ffxi also as a lot of the demon names are NMs in zvahl if i remember correctly

I got my FFXi name from a Fire Emblem game. When I was starting ffxi I had planned to be a taru named PsychoMouse but that was taken so I picked a Mithra named Myrrh instead. Any other games I generally pick either PsychoMouse or Mouse. I came up with it when I was a kid playing FPS games with my friends.

Heero i tried to get back in 2003 but it was already taken >.> So i decided to play with the vowels a bit and went with Hiryo. Then after playing ffxi for so long I started using Ealdnarche and Kamlanaut for everything since they werent taken anywhere xD. But now those have gotten bored so I've been using some weird girl's website for Arabic/Hindi names like Sehinsah and Al Khaliq -- <% = Kate Monk's Onomastikon>

I don't know why I named myself Insanecyclone in FFXI but it was a name I used in a 2d mmo that I played before FFXI was named DarkAges. In free to play mmos and ones that I join I will usually pick a FFXI item and name myself after it like Hauberk or Haubergeon are the most common for me if I'm playing a DD class in the game.

When I played NWN I wound up just using the random name generator for my first character, which wound up being Isiolia Marner.

When I started playing FFXI, I tried to use some other names, offhand some Norse mythology stuff like Freya, but it was already taken. Sooo, since my friends were already on, having bought the game a couple days before me and all, I just went with the first name from that NWN character. It stuck out since it was one of the first/only (at the time) games I'd played where I actually named the character.

'course, since then, it's become a general name I'll use for female characters (which I usually play in RPGs).

I was waiting for a ferry with one of my friends in high school. We were across the street from the dock at bar playing Golden Tee. I did well enough to enter my initials, so I just wailed on the track ball and it landed on V-I-Q. My friend thought it was cool for some reason, so it stuck as a nickname.

Totally just name my characters after recent animes / games played.
I took Fayttt from Star Ocean 3 because Fayt and Faytt were taken (I was like 10 and really wanted the name >_>)
I took Shiel from Shino (.hack// series / games), my friend thought it up thinking it was more of a night-elfy name as compared to Shino because he's a total dork.
And I took Shiino from the .hack// series and games and added an extra I because I didn't want it to be a total ripoff.

I used to use the percentile rolling name tables from DnD and Star Wars roleplaying books, but lately I stick to Qalbert.

I made up my name sometime around middle school when I got my first computer and have used it for everything ever since. It has been so long I honestly don't remember how I made it up or where it came from.

FFXI: Tykkaru, I just added something I found sounded cute and added aru to it.
One year later, I met a norwegian player, and they told me that Tykk meant fat in norwegian. >.<

Otherwise, I use Albert (after Albert Silverberg).

Im an anime nerd so i use names from anime I enjoy or variations of their names. Like few of my wow characters are names after Muramasa's legendary weapons. My main is named after Casca from Berserk and my alt is named after Rukia's zanpacto(sp) from bleach, I take alot of time to decide about the names I choose, guess cause im anal.
