    Online Hold Em

I've been playing offline for quite a long while now and have just recently started researching venues to play online. As I'm aware, however, it's rather challenging to deposit money at any sites because of US online gambling laws. From looking around, there seem to be a few less than perfect options. Any suggestions from BG's resident players?

I played on Full Tilt a few years ago and I didn't have a problem depositing money. I just put in my credit card info and was good to go.

The big poker rooms are pretty good about allowing US players to deposit. You can use prepaid debit cards, those go through no probs, or a direct transfer from your bank using an e-check.

For cashing out, the best way is to have them mail you a real check, thats what most people do.

    Follow up:

I deposited on Bodog with a $50 Visa All Access Pre-paid Debit Card with the help of a customer rep. Full Tilt has recently started direct deposits from checking accounts. I'd try one of these two options if you're looking for a solution.

    Current status:
$50->632.45 in 1.5 weeks of play

Due to US law Publicly Traded betting firms won't accept US customers since it's too big a risk for share-holders.
Privately owned/operated businesses like PokerStars and such still accept US players though.

Any site big on referral bonuses will have a lost of sites with user reviews and they'll state which accept US customers. Read reviews carefully. Big sites like PokerStars have a lot of players but most of them are Sharks and a lot of the time the Fish you're looking to fleece are already broke.

Key things to remember is that online play is a lot faster than offline so the law of averages kicks in sooner. A good streak can turn to shit pretty quick. Online play has a different feel to offline play.

Having worked for a gaming company I recommend you read Bonus conditions carefully should you be interested in them since most poker ones require you to earn stupid levels of points considering what you actually earn through regular play.

Oh, and a lot of online players are absolute fucking retards. I don't know if it's the anonimity or just the fact that they're on a PC and can't physically see the money get pissed away but they'll make bets on cards you'd never even look twice at in a brick and mortar game.
