Ring/Earring Fasion Ethics

Does it irritate you sometimes to see people wearing special rare/ex earrings in the wrong ear? Like a BLM that wears Novio Earring is his right ear?

Or someone that wears his CoP ring in his left ring slot? Or even a melee that wears his brutal Earring in his right ear.


Novio Earring = Left Esr
Moldavite Earring = Right Ear

CoP Ring = Right Ring
Brutal Earring = Left Ear

Why do some people wear them out of sync. :/

here's my smn ring/earring ethic.
left earring: summoning earring
right earring: anything else(ruby earring/magnetic)
left ring: evoker's ring
right ring: anything else (tamas/star ring)

reasoning: with smn ring and evokers ring on the left, it matches summoning torque and summoner's bracers +1, leaving the literal core of my gear being +32 summoning magic. if someone does this with NQ smn bracers, it equals +30 skill, the minimal amount needed to cap hastega, and an amount i've been touting as the basic amount a summoner needs in endgame. so the literal and figurative core of the job endgame is +30 skill.

There are exceptions, but very few.

One for example would be Brutal Earring. It goes on the right, when you have a DM/Apoc Nigh earring to touch your black tathlum. NO, this does NOT work with tiphia sting. It does not work w/ fire bomblett. ONLY black tathlum

Well, you see when boys and girls get to be adolescents and enter their teenage years certain changes happen to their bodies.

When these changes happen, people who wear Brutal Earrings on their right ears, Moldavites Earrings on their left ears, and CoP Rings on their left fingers stop being interested in touching them.

It is for this reason that all decent people abstain from such backwards behavior and stick to a {Higher Level Left, Lower Level Right} fashion schema.

Earrings: I always wear my moldavite on right, suppa on right, brutal on left. It looks retarded when people wear the AN/DM earrings on the left, I can't stand it.

Rings: Tamas goes on left, balrahn on left, omega on right. Depends which job I am though, sometimes I have to switch them for different ring configurations, but tamas, when on, will always be on the left.

Honestly it doesn't really matter, but it is a mildly irksome thing to people, hence why these threads exist.

Obviously you wear the higher damage earring in the main ear. Anything else is just going to hurt your WS.

this. And it varies by current options- On monk and puppetmaster, brutal stays on the left. On blue mage, I switch it over to the right, due to Suppa being superior.

I guess an exception would be Rajas. That stays on the left, and will always be on that finger even if I get a Toreador's, Snipers+1, or Divisor (or some randomly amazing Augment). Obviously poor Rajas will have to become macro only when I get 2 of those better options.


When I see other people doing it differently, it bothers me in some crazy OCD way.

I really love the fasion, whatever the heck that is, advice in this thread. So much good info can be found here. For whatever it is worth I wear the "best" earring on the left. Does that have something to do with whether I am gay or straight?

Earrings are always worn with the inner part torwards the middle, except in the case of AN/DM earrings.

As for rings, it's ALWAYS CoP|ToAU.

CoP on the left. ToAU on the right. No exceptions.
