XBOX Live Party problems

So just within the past two days suddenly I cannot connect with any of my friends on Xbox LIVE to join a party. I never had this problem until like I said two days ago, but from I've looked up it says it could possibly be a NAT connection problem. I don't really know what this means other than it has something to do with the router and unfortunately my internet is provided by my apartment complex so I don't have any control over it. Is there anyway to get around this by having my friends set their NAT connection at something specific or am I just fucked? The guy also put up a netnanny like internet filter out of the blue and now restricts a ton of fucking websites I never had any issues with before, so I don't know if those are related in any way.

fwiw, XBL says my NAT connection is moderate, but I'm computer/network dumb so I have no idea if this means anything as far as helping me work t his out.

Try testing your connection, that works a LOT of the times for me. Xbox Dashboard > Settings I think > Test connection

tbh, xbl parties are terrible and die half the time. Don't sweat it.
