More rude to the neighbors exclusively, is the note posted on their door because it is within their living space and more personal.

A sign with 'profanity' on it, not only addresses them but has the potential to offend any one else who reads it, putting you in line for trouble that might be capable of overshadowing the initial problem and possibly attracting attention to you.

It creates two separate issues and two separate offenders when formerly there was one.
1. Neighbor disturbing the peace with noise and unsightly trash.
2. Neighbor disturbing the peace with depictions of profanity on notes/posters.

My neighbors posted up a message and instead of saying "dunce dunce dunce" they said, "your boom boom music". This immediately added humor to the situation and although we stopped recording music loudly on their side of the wall, there was no threatening sense because of the humor in the -boom boom- description.

Outside of the fact it was written on a postit note on the door and it was a complaint, the only other attention calling aspect was an exclamation point at the end of the passage.
Shortly after, we began insisting on fees, charging for the computer repairs that were previously complementary. We were glad that she went to us instead of going to the manager to get us written up.

Both solutions work but the choice to handle it herself saved us a write up and we were grateful for that because we were in the wrong for making noise.

If you want intimidation, a legitimate noise/unsightly litter on property complaint to a governing body of some kind would server better purpose than implicating yourself through fighting fire with fire. Once you cross the line and do that, you rule out your ability to authentically defend your right to peace.

On the other hand, like I mentioned above, handling it yourself is sometimes more lenient on neighbors than getting authority to use official channels to handle the issue. Not sure how volatile they are or how they would handle either avenue.

I would say take care of it without implicating yourself or writing personal notes that might inflate egos and cause retaliation.

there's some retarded ass law that states that the maximum height for weeds and grass is 12 inches where I live, probably in your area too. If they have anything that's basically not a bush or tree higher than that, call the cops on them. If they don't do it themselves within like 2 weeks, then they will have to pay whoever the police gets to do it. If you want them to be pissed at you, I'd go letter with the music and garbage shit, and then be like btw your weeds look like hell cut them down.
