How to play C-Aion and other commonly asked questions

For anyone interested in playing Chinese Aion while waiting on NA, here's the guide that I used to get set up. The guide says OBT, but its the same process to create an account and get started.

Download the client here, referring to the guide which walks you though what to click to get the right thing.

How to install the English patch:

1. Go to your Chinese aion folder/L10N
2. Download the patch file (size: 24.3M) , and place it in the folder L10N
3. Set your regional setting as English (US) but not Chinese
4. Start and enjoy!

Here's where you can buy time for your C-Aion account.


Most English players are on Region 2 Azariel server, and a lot of BG's are there as well.

How do I get into beta?
The only thing you need to get your beta key is to preorder the game from any store (Gamestop, Amazon, NCSoft itself etc). You should receive your beta key before the next preview weekend event.

When will Aion launch?
The set release date is September 22nd, but if you have preordered Aion, you are given a two day headstart on September 20th.

Download is free, and I believe you get 5 free hours when starting (at least you did when i started )

It's dirt cheap to play though, $1.07 will get you 8 hours lol. Just be sure to put your correct Region (if you followed the guide, it should be the second one: North China) and username (NOT YOUR CHARACTER NAME) when buying time.

Download via torrent if you can for the chinese fiels, it is much faster and more reliable. I've been seeding the 1.2 patch for about a week now I think, thought that will probably come down soon just so I don't get comcast angries.

And here are some links for china v1.2. Do not download these yet, they only apply to region 10 atm. Well you can dl them, but don't install.

http://mini-patch.sdo.com/ctorrent/A...1.2All.torrent is the update to v1.2 for china. You do not need this yet unless you are playing on region 10. If you install it you can only play on region 10 until the rest upgrade.

Also from page 10 of the 50+ page post it says you in addition to putting the file in there, make a folder named ENU which is a renamed copy of the CHS folder.

Its referring to your PC's region setting, like the language of the OS. This is because 1.0 reads the region settings and chooses which pak to use based on your OS preferences.


No need to make a new folder for ENU, i assume it was suggested to do so as a backup.

Just about everything. There are a few bugs here and there, but its mostly complete ^^

My C-Aion broke last night after you 2 went to bed.

I went to a separate area to do my ascending quest and the game was lagging, mobs were standing infront of each other not attacking ect.

I tried logging out 3 times but it took alt+f4 to get out and since then and after restarting my PC I can't get back into the game.

When I start Aion it goes to the list of servers or the launcher, in either case I chose the 2nd one which is our region China North which has a Chinese 2 (see pic below) and when I click on that and the accept button it lags for a minute then exits out and I get an error I can't read with my only option is OK and it crashes the program.

Hopfully it is fixed tomorrow or something or maybe its just me but I thought I should let you know incase it happens to you

The servers were lagging pretty bad for me last night, if the servers lag too hard the client won't even launch because it can't connect.

I'm trying to get this working. I have data.z01, data.z02, data.z03, Aion_Setup, ENJ.pak as well as Data.zip all in a folder on my desktop. Shortly after the setup begins, I get this error:

I've re-downloaded data.zip from multiple sources, as well as tried finding alternate solutions via google. Nothing seems to be working, however. Halp!
