Carbuncle EpicLS Update?

I have a old friend in EpicLS, and I have seen quite a bit go on here. My friend is trying to make me come over and join the shell with him, but I am sceptical.

I have been looking at thier website, and it seems they are doing good. I also looked at some of the other shells websites and it looks like EpicLS either updates more is becomming a shell not outlined in any of these thread.

So, simple question to you carbuncle folks, is it worth joining EpicLS?

Is the drama surrounding them just an instance of pissed off shells because they seem to be competition?

I really want to join a solid endgame shell, just looking for thier level of commitment.

Short answer: I think so.

Long answer: Will things ever change in HNM competition? I doubt it, there's always some bad blood from any established LS towards any new one. Especially if they do well. It's part of the HNM scene and it's something I don't find hard to live with.

I've been with Epic for somewhere in the region of 10 months or so now, so not that long after they formed and I've been very impressed with the structure of the LS and how things are done. I've previously been in 3 or 4 HNM Linkshells and this one is by far and away the best organised and certainly the most enthusiastic. The leaders are well organised and fair as far as I'm concerned. The members are friendly and we have some good banter in the LS. I can't recall the last time I saw people in the LS have any real problem with one another.

The LS has evolved over the time I've been with them from an LS that worked pretty well with a few rough edges (ok, make that some very rough edges at times) into an LS that works extremely well now IMO.

We've had the same core of members for quite some time now and we all get on well. I'm aware that there are some people who hold grudges against the LS for one reason or another, but I think these grudges are often over something trivial that happened so long ago it's not even relevant anymore or against a single person in the LS.

One of the major rules in Epic is 'No drama' which is very actively promoted now and, for the most part, the members have stuck to it. Argueing in the linkshell is actively discouraged and hasn't happened in a long time anyway, Saying things in /say is VERY actively discouraged. I'm sure the odd post will surface on forums from time to time from a member but this isn't really something that can be controlled in-game.

The LS seems to have some real haters for one reason and another and people have tried to pull the LS down since it's creation (even lolFeiwong had a go and added +1 to his fail count), I've read the thread here in 'Player Warnings' and looking back at some of the very early stuff I can see why it might have warranted a thread. However, old news is old and things change.

Once you've actually had some experience in the LS it's pretty obvious that the thread that was created is now very out of date.

People getting emo over a linkshell they don't even know the players in is just wasted anger as far as I'm concerned. Endgame is setup for the kind of drama that surfaces regularly in this forum. It makes for some good reading and I love coming back for a read!

I've no doubt there will be still be people that will still say "Epic is the worst LS ever!!"....but you need to be asking yourself what experience (other than they just don't like the competition or they had a fallout with someone in the LS ages ago) they have with us.

On a personal level I can say that I'd definately recommend the LS to anyone. We cover ALL timezones and have enough members in each timezone to keep the LS efficient, which I believe is why we have a high total number of members, contrary to the misguided belief that we throw alliance after alliance at HNM's which coincidentally isn't true.

Anyone who's actually taken the time to talk to me or been in an exp party with me will have found out that the age old addage that "All EpicLS members are morons" just doesn't stick. Get to know the individual members and you'll see that we're not the "morons" people make us out to be, we're no different to anyone else in endgame. We're just trying to get along with killing stuff and bettering ourselves the same as the rest of the endgame scene.

Talk to some of the members who recently joined us from a HNMLS that broke and ask them what their perception of us was before they joined us and then ask them what they now think of the LS.

With regard to the whether or not there's room for any more members at the moment I really can't tell you but I do know we took a few more members on recently so there's a good chance we could be full in certain timezones. The only way to find out is to have a chat with one of the leaders or apply on the forum.

drama is far from wat we cause.... other shells are just mad considering the fact hat we are owning this server.... they have stumped as low as too talking shit in /say and we dont respond... in ls rules it clearly states "we are a drama free shell" so in other words COMPETITION IS THE ONLY DRAMA!!!

Sadly, all of these posts may be unnecessary. Due to a large influx of apps, Epic is currently filled in a lot of time zones. Our apps are always open, but unless your app is particularly amazing, or in the perfect time zone you may want to consider another group. As Gra said, we cover all time zones. If any HNM is open we are there. This tends to be a bit much for some people. Make sure you understand entirely what you're getting into before you join.

Now that i think about it, if you have to make a big post to BG questioning the legitimacy of Epic, the quality of Epic, or the general standing of Epic amongst BG, perhaps you shouldn't apply. This place is drama central and you come here to ask the people who make flame threads against us to recant? Like Gra said, ask the people who left other LS's to join ours. You'll see the perception of us by those who hate us, tends to differ from fact. If anyone here wants to diss/burn/trash our LS then feel free to. We have a LS forum and we enjoy laughing at all the rumors and drama. The reason so few of us respond is because we know the BS isn't true. We stick with what we do best, claiming and killing NM's, running events, and destroying little pink birds.

I think for this discussion, perhaps providing a few examples as opposed to just saying "Them guy ther dun play nice." would be good. I'd love the chance to provide a counterargument to any of the drama you'd like to bring. However all you brought was... well... nothing. All of the leaders have a strict policy of keeping our people in line. So if you have an instance when our LS was out of line or rude, feel free to share it.

You say this will end up as our third drama thread, but you're the only person taking it that direction. You say our skill is "subpar", however you have to understand that, again we are a 24/7 linkshell. You never get the same people at HNMS. You may have seen some sloppy stuff, however what i've seen is 7 man Lambton worms and 12 man SW KAs that go flawlessly. Then again hitting any number of macros in a particular order isn't really skill now is it? Let's just say any LS that can kill everything is competent? I've said before I don't think we're perfect. I do think we are good at what we do, and that's what we try to stick with. Thanks for your... whatever that was ^.-.
