    PvP Ranger

So after getting to Eltnen and actually playing there, Ive of course run into some Asmo invading. Now most of them had Abyss gear and were "??" but Ive noticed that my burst damage doesnt do as much as I was led to believe.

My question is for people who may have Ranger at a higher level. Is there an imprtovement in burst damage? Stunning Shot is great, but its damage is so random (Ive ranged from 300 to 1300), and if you're bound too far from the target you cant even use Stunning Shot or Arrow Deluge. So what is the strategy for Ranger PvP exactly?

First time i stepped foot in Eltnen i got whooped by a ranger. I think the same ranger has killed me a dozen times now. Nothing i can really do till mid 30's unless i'm with a group.

Strategy for any job in pvp is to find a lone target lower level than yourself and jump them while they're busy fighting a mob. At least from what I've seen...

I will say that ranger is gear dependent but then again every job is.

I was walking around with a level 18 bow, shitty manastones like hp and +1/+2 attack, some were not even socketed.

With all this I hit for shit, didn't do much damage and died easily.

Since I hit 25 I went balls out, got a Craftsman Oak Bow and paid good money to get it +10, I got all level 20+ greens off the broker and put a total of like 15x Manastone: Physical Crit hit 12 into my gear and I have tripled my damage and have like 40%+ crit rate now.

You would be amazed how much a little investment in gear will do. The most important at these levels is to get a +10 weapon, get that and you will rock out impressive numbers.

I have been on the asmo side for an hour with my kisk in the mountains and I can gank this 20-25 chanter in a single combo now and hit him for like 1300 damage in one hit with 1900+ crits on PvE targets.

If your on Azarial Elyos I can help you out with some tips and gear if you want :D

Either way 25 is a huge change for RNG with their 2nd skillchain and access to some other good pieces of gear.

Trust me I felt the same way and everyone says just wait, its awesome :D

Is +10 the cap for enchants?

    Yep.

Also when you think about it, the +10 adds like +30 to min and max damage, and when your weapon is doing 120-150 damage thats a flat 25% increase in damage for just a little investment that will last you 5+ levels.

Killing 25% faster will get you 5 levels instead of 4 and save you so much time, which in retrospect takes less time to farm up the money to enchant it.

I am going to be doing this to all my weapons from now on, it makes such a huge difference,... Ask Veyron he will tell ya

I made him a +10 level 16 mace and he killed 2x as fast :D

How does the level enchantment stuff work? if you have a lv18 piece of gear, you need the lv18 enchant stone? I tried enchanting my shield and it went +1, +1, -1, -1, +1 and then I ran out of stones x.x Didn't feel like buying more after spending 100k.

No, stones have a chance to work the higher they are, basically. But if you use a Lv19 stone on an 18 weapon, it'll probably not work. But if you use a stone that is 10 or more higher then the level of the weapon, it will always upgrade 100% of the time.

I usually buy a bunch of level 25 whites and pray for some good extractions and use the stones to upgrade my Lv10 weapon on a new character. The Lv10 weapon you get +10'd will last you till the 20s.

Or I'd farm non-tradable blue gear from named mobs by switching channels early on and do it that way. Almost always got a stone higher then 20 from the items. Like for Asmodian side, I'd farm Blue Wing Naimas, Bragging Toki or Silver Mane Haku.

Sorry for the noob questions, but... how do you extract the stones from gear?

Extraction Tools from general merchant, also you can only extra from items you can socket. so no helmets, rings, necklaces, ect.

I got a lot of enchant stones under the items level if it was white (ie, extracting from a lvl 25 weapon got me stones lvl 21-24), however greens almost always gave me 3-6 levels higher than the gear (lvl 29 green gave me a lvl 35 enchant stone). If you're trying to enchant a lvl 25 or 30 from scratch, you'll probably want to pick up a couple lvl 25 or 30 greens to extract from.

As for the odds, I think same-level stone to item is around 80%... but once you get a few levels higher than what you're enchanting you've got a lot higher chance. I don't think you need to go all out with lvl 35 stones for a lvl 25, but if you want to make sure it doesn't fail, it may just be worth the extra investment.

I wish extraction had a skill level though. ><

I've been interested in Ranger since I found out about Aion.. It was gonna be the first job I was going to level. But after looking into how expensive the job can be and how dependent on your gear it is, I think I will save this job for my third level 50 after gladiator and templar.

It always looks fun when I see videos of it though. That one ability that makes like four archers appear on both sides of you is really awesome.

I've got the same basic plan I think, but I'll do Gladiator, then Ranger, then Templar lol.

I think i'm somewhere like 0/8 on enchantment stones, but i've been using the same level stones as my weapon.

I hope I didn't give the wrong impression that this job NEEDS a +10 weapon to be effective.

I killed at the same speed as everyone else before I upgraded my gear its just now I am 3-5 shotting things 2-3 levels higher then me and I don't even have to kite like I use to but that was just kiting 20 feet or so.

Arrows are 1kinah each and 10k for arrows every 3-4 levels is nothing, that and your seeds for your traps are cheap as well since you don't use traps every fight anyways but more once in a great while, I bought 100 for like 15k 12 levels ago and I still have 30 left.

Either way the job isn't expensive its just if you want to level faster and this applys to any melee job then getting your weapon to +10 will make it easier for you to level and help a lot.

BTW the 12 crit manastones are 10k each, I spent like 200k tops putting it in every slot as they rarely failed
