    DJ Mix Thread

A thread for anyone from bedroom DJ's to music enthusiasts to post mixsets they'd like to share. Some simple rules to make navigation easier for our listeners out there:

Make sure it's a continuous mix, not start and stop like a collection of songs on a mixtape from '92. This is a thread for DJ's and DJing, not playlist collections.

Credit where it is due. Feel free to share mixes you enjoy that weren't created by you. A friend, a pro, some random mix you found online - please give the artist credit so those that enjoy that mix can continue to support that particular artist.

Genre. Every genre is welcome from hip-hop, punk rock, dance, gypsy banjo haiku's... you name it. Share with us your eclectic style of music, and if possible label the mix with that genre to enlighten your fellow BGer's!

Tracklist. Not necessary, but helpful. Track IDing in mixes can be fun too. For example: "Anyone know what song that is at 34:58 on Mix ABC that randomuserx posted?" You never know who might know that or can find it out who it is. It again goes to maybe creating new fans of an artist whom they can continue to support.

Criticism. Let's not dick this thread up and try to give constructive criticism to budding dj's that are just looking for feedback. If you don't like a mix for whatever reason just mention you don't like it for whatever reason and move on. Keep your grudges out of the thread and try to be respectful.

A good, free hosting website for mixes can be found here.

As mixes are added I'll edit this post so they're always catalogued on the first page. Let me know if you have any other ideas for the thread so we can make it a nice experience for everyone! As we get more involvement and subgenre's broken into I'll refine the categories to be more specific.

This thread reminds me of that King of the Hill episode where every hipster living in an area is a DJ, and refer to themselves as "DJ <insert stupid name here>"

The sad thing is when you're out and about at any dance music event, this. It gets really fucking obnoxious.

Nothing wrong with self promotion its just kids these days want a handout. They drop $300 on a Stanton DJ starter kit and expect to be booked the very next day in a headliner slot.

Been doing this for 12 years and had some dues to pay before I get where I am, which is why it grates on me when every other kid I run into at a club or event has to tell me all about how they DJ and I should book them.

In this age of free information these kids should let their work do the talking for them.

    Agreed.

Best way for a DJ to make any headway is to book their own shows and make a name for themselves, then promoters will hear about them an be interested in putting them on the line-up.
