I happen to agree w/ the conservatears in this situation. Too soon, what the hell has he done for peace?

He lost to Bibi over the settlements; he didn't say a damn thing about the Gaza massacre; he condemned the Goldstone report (Israel cried Holocaust/Hitler/Nazi/Antisemitism as well); and he's sending more troops to Afpak.

The civilian death toll in Afghanistan has doubled to 300ish, from August 07' to August 09'.

This Peace Prize is a joke though. It's not about possession it's about earning. And in that sense, you don't need some award. Gandhi never won one. But Henry Kissinger did.

EDIT: BTW, foreign-policy-wise, what the hell did people expect him to do? It's not like he can come in and save the world. The problems are institutional. He has to contend w/ our economy, the vested/special interests, and pressures within our political system and culture. Like, for example, holding our allies to the same standards as our enemies (example: Israel and Iran on nukes).
