    Lag spikes and disconnects...

I have not had a problem with DC's other then the occasional one here and there but today its a nightmare.

Now for whatever reason when I am out running around I am fine but when I glide I rubberband like hell but when I go to the crafting area and craft I lag like a mofo and DC.

When I am crafting I will have a 2-3 minute pause between synths while hitting craft all button and I type something and it shows in my log 2-3 minutes later.

At one point I had 2 million ping, then the next minute 220ms then back and fourth until I finally DC.

I don't know why its only happening in the crafting area as I only have ventrilo open and I shit+f12 to remove other players but still have it happen.

Anyone else getting this problem or know whats causing it or how to fix it?

Sounds like the apparent memory leak bug is hitting you. Long story short, apparently the game is going kablooey for many when it starts to exceed 2GB RAM of use. I guess you can cut down the chances of this by changing texture settings to their lowest, but this can still easily rear its head in big Abyss fights since you've technically got all layers loaded on top of information about other PCs even if you've got Shift+F12 on.

I know it happened to me the other night doing a fort siege, but I've pretty much been fine everywhere else except for an isolated crash in the crafting hall.

Same problem as Farcry, the engine the game runs on. Everytime someone appears on your screen apparently the game writes all their data to your bin folder. If that memory goes over 2gb then the game shuts down. Its all virtual mem too so doesnt matter how much memory you have on your board.

Is this something a video card upgrade can fix or is this just a royal fuckup by NCsoft and their inability to handle this many people in a small area at the same time?

Nah it's a damn memory leak in CryEngine. I noticed it yesterday when I did all the training cutscenes in The Abyss.. I was lagging hard by #5 and #6 made the game crash.

Bleh I've been rubber banding really badly on Channel 5 of all places. That channel is usually empty. ><

For the most part you're okay if you avoid fortress fights, and I guess I wouldn't recommend those to anyone under level 35 anyway. It is definitely a big deal once the game matures, though. Still, for the sake of general leveling, you can get by well enough.

I am getting chain disconnects in pandy but its only in the broker area and crafting hall.

Anything I can do other then shift+F12, disabling names over peoples heads, setting textures to low or anything else?

I have ZERO problems EVERYWHERE else..

Anyone can think of ANY reasons even from the most basic or ground up solutions to improve performance?
