Why?

For one, they could prefer the taste.

For two, why is it that if you're doing something, it has to be the extreme? A fat person can't do anything healthy for themselves if they choose to live an unhealthy life style? They have to leave a completely unhealthy life style, no healthy things at all? How does that make sense?

(Though one could argue the healthiness of diet soda but that's obviously not your point)

if it was a mac os x snow leopard dish then it would only be served in 1 restaurant and you'd have to be under 30 to get in, and it would probably cost somewhere in the area of 150$ and you'd only get about 1 patties worth of food.

Yeah, this basically. If you really have to eat from a fast food restaurant and want to keep it as healthy as possible, get a grilled chicken meal without mayo, small fries or side salad and diet soda.

Double Whopper, Medium/Large fries and a diet coke won't really help at all.

100 or w/e calories a normal coke is in comparison is a difference, even if it's minor. If they really think it will make a large difference then yes, and while my faith in humanity has certainly deemed me to not be surprised if a fat ass actually thought changing to diet soda would make them skinny, I'd also more than assume that the majority just look at it as a minor trade off to at least have something healthier in them.

I mean, why stop there? Why not laugh at the fat ass drinking a coke instead of a milk shake?
