Re-activation + FFXI Ultimate Collection

An old friend that quit before Chains of Promathia (2004) was tempted by the FFXI Ultimate Collection (FFXIUC) to try FFXI again. What would be the best way to do this?

It looks like he'll need to use a combination of the character reactivation service:
FINAL FANTASY XI Character Reactivation Service
and the FFXI Ultimate Collection to apply most of the expansions to his old character:
FINAL FANTASY XI

However, all the FFXIUC documentation I've found suggests that it is for new characters only, leaving me uncertain if he can apply the expansion packs to his old character.

Other concerns that come to mind are:

• Would he be able to apply the month of paid service from the FFXIUC to his old character.
• Would he get an anniversary ring?
• Something else I've missed?

If this has already been discussed, I really need to skill up my search-fu (tried already).

The collection will be a single code, like the previous vana'diel collection.

You can apply it to any account and it will just use up the expansions that haven't been activated, if it's in line with the 2008 collection. If not I have no idea.

i think the ultimate collections come with 1 code that is used for everything (Excluding pol, it has a seprate code). IE 1 code works for ffxi, zilirt, cop, aotu, wotg
