    BG RSS Feeds?

Does BG support RSS feeds? If not, are there any plans for them?

I've managed to consolidate the vast majority of my web reading with rss feeds and wondered if I could do the same with BG. Searching the forums doesn't reveal much, especially since "rss" is too short of a search term. My current way of accessing the forums is to bookmark my "List Subscriptions" page and check "New Posts" every once in a while, which works decently.

BG forum's are running vBulletin, and a quick Google showed the framework does have RSS support, but it's disabled by default. Perhaps Sonomaa can give some insight as to whether it's worth a hassle or not, as I've no idea what the controls are like for setting up, or whether it's worth the CPU cycles generating a new feed every post/thread.

Definitely not a problem for current-gen processors, especially at minute updating intervals/etc.

The way vBulletin does it is very ghetto and barely documented at all. The feature is already there but it's super hidden.

    It should work now.

    For the lazy ones: http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2

    Thanks for the info!

RSS feed added. Hopefully it'll be useful without additional filtering! Otherwise I can always fall-back to my subscriptions page (~'.')~

You can ask it for feeds of specific forums too.

Nice! From some quick googling, here's one way to get forum-customized feeds for those that don't know how:

    Modify the base feed URL:
    http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2
with a suffix of the form
    "forumids=<comma_separated_list_of_forum_ids />"

The forum ids can be found from examining the forum links on the main page:
    • Go to http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/index.php
    • Depending on your browser, highlight the forum and look at the URL. For example, "Forum News, Rules, Donations, and Information" is linked to "http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57", therefore the corresponding forum id is 57.

Example: Forum-customized feed: To only get rss updates for the spam and gaming forums, use:
    http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/exter...forumids=68,91

Personally, I use separate feeds per forum (only one id for feed) for better organization/sanity.

    Hope that helps,

Now, if only there was a way to get a feed of one's subscribed threads only... (should investigate later)

That or just use the "Subscribe to this page" button in FireFox when viewing a specific forum

    That's convenient o.o (simpler ftw!)

Minor Aside: I've also been using chrome for more than a year now. I don't see that option

For reference, here's what my new BG folder in Google Reader looks like and the subscriptions:

(renamed feeds for quicker incremental search (keyboard shortcuts ftw) and updated the thumbnail links to be direct links instead of the silly imgshack framing page)
