Alternative Edition

During Sony's Press Conference during Tokyo Game Show 2009, Capcom announced that a Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition would be released in Japan in Spring 2010 for PlayStation 3. The new version will use the PlayStation Motion Controller[38] and a brand new campaign featuring Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.[39][40]

Not sure if there will be a NA release but one can dream.

Capcom also revealed that RE5: Alternative Edition will be making its way onto the Xbox 360 sometime down the road.Considering the game is getting motion controls for the PS3, it’s not too far fetched to assume that Capcom will eventually release a version of the game that incorporates Project Natal support.

They need to be more specific when making games and say " Hey in 9 months to a year, we're going to release a better edition with more features. Oh and it's cheaper." Though that's to be expected with companies nowadays, it's getting REALLY fucking annoying. I know they said "Then don't buy it lol" But come on. Release a fucking complete game.

I guess you frown at GOTY releases of games that included DLC you spent extra on getting normally too?

Absolutely. Look at Fallout 3 for example. I'm not sure how much each DLC pack was released for, I think around $10? So 5 DLC packs, plus a $60 game, you're looking at over $110. Then all the people who didn't buy any of it, get all of it for $60? That's a slap in the face to all the people who did buy it.

The whole Ninja Gaiden Sigma thing I'm pretty indifferent about. I loved the original on Xbox, and quite enjoyed the PS3 version. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 however, you couldn't pay me to play through that flaming pile of shit on 360 again. The PS3 version does look like a good purchase with all the new characters and missions, but I'll just wait 2 or 3 months, and get it for 20 bucks on half.com

Yeah I know, we get it when it comes out, instead of having to wait for it, but really? It's getting more and more rampant with Special Editions, and Re-releases, and whatever else there is. I didn't pay 10 bucks extra so I can't get an extra piece of armor? Fuck you. Some of them ARE worth it, but most are just a waste of money. Anyhow, as long as people keep buying them, devs will keep releasing them. That will only make things worse for the future though.

I guess it is bitching, but it seems like legitimate bitching to me. The ESA and Devs wonder why piracy is so high?

GOTY/later re-releases is just a way for companies to milk more cash out of the consumers by packing more 'value' into the title, so I typically wait for that, which is why I've still yet to play Fallout 3 here (one of the prime examples where all the DLC combined = price of the retail game) because of it.

And it works in their eyes. Why settle for a Platinum/Greatest Hits package nearly a year down the road when you can pack a litte bit of content in and re-release it for full price again?

At any rate, I'm starting to remind myself of this, but applied to a console rather with regards to being patched already, and getting content cheaper:

As for RE5 itself, was there ever a sense of being in a large area? The demo made the game feel like it was all a series of small locations connected via loading screens with no real sense of the area you're in, and being very linear at that. (not that RE4 wasn't linear also, but it always had that overview map of all the areas for the Chapter, didn't see that in the RE5 dem)

I don't know about the rest of you, but i'm absolutely psyched about this. My one complaint about RE5 was the lack of Jill, being able to play her in a story mode, so getting a chance to have a spooky ass mansion, jill and chris, nostalgia + done RE5 style is just fantastic. If it's DLC on 360, i'l buy it. I'll buy the PS3 alternative version.

You sound like my brother I asked him if he was gonna get this, and he was like "Ummm it's Resident Evil, so YEAH." I don't think the new content, motion controls aside, is too extensive. It does sound nice, but just as I told him, they are not getting me to buy the same game again.

Thats what i'm on the edge about, I don't know if I should sell my copy of RE5 if they are releasing a GOTY type version for RE5.... Better to beat the crowds when selling games like that. Like Fallout 3 is only 20~ bucks on amazon... I sold it early when I knew I was going to get the GOTY edition and sold it for around 35 used. Makes me wonder if they may release it as a DLC. If they don't i'm going to have to buy it regardless... I want to try out shooting a bow and stuff like they showed when demoing the sony motion control.

When you buy something, you should be buying it for the purpose of using it in it's current state at that point in time. If you don't get mad at the above, then it is just pointless bitching, makes your ideology not even consistent with itself.

Whenever natal is released, god knows when! Hope it plays well on the xbox360, I don't know how much I wanna move my body to do shit on resident evil though. I assume w/ sonys motion control you can at least sit on a couch like a wiimote.
