    How do I play an H major chord?

    I don't know if I'm seeing things or what. I thought it was some sort of misprint, but it occurs multiple times in this book. Does this have some meaning I don't know about?

    yeah, there ain't no H chord son. not in this reality, anyway.

    apparently it's somewhat common in Europe to see H instead of B? according to google anyway. so I'm guessing the poster above me is right. weird, though. I never knew that until now.

    So if H = B, then why do I have Bb instead of Hb?

    Edit: I guess you're right. This entire book doesn't seem to have a single B chord, so I guess they use H instead of B. Weird. And I still don't know why they use H for B, but don't use Hb for Bb. Silly Europeans. When will they learn that American language and notation and words without the letter u is vastly superior?

    H=B and B=Bb

    It's weird, I know. German origin I think? I know Bach signed a few of his songs that way.

    EDIT: missed that it does say Bb. It's still B chords, but I have no idea why he didn't stick to one system or the other.

    it's odd that they'd actually say Bb when using H, though

    Huh? Now I'm really confused because this book has both H and Bb (but no B). Are you sure about this?

    Positive. Like my edit said, no idea why it's inconsistent with H and Bb rather than H and B or B and Bb but I'm 100% sure H=B.

    Im european and I've never seen a H chord in my life. You just got played from wherever you got that music from.

    Well here's the preface of the book

    Whatever country this is native to, they're clearly a bunch of terrorist and must be stopped.

    I found some site that looked to be croatian, mentioning an Hmaj7 chord. Problem was that what they were fingering wasn't a B.

    Unrelated but somehow related, but B-fields are sometimes listed as H-fields in certain textbooks (magnetic fields).

    H and B are closely related quantities but technically aren't the exact same thing. Normally we use B = uH (where u is the permeability of free space), though in some cases (certain magnetic materials) it looks a little different (H = B/u - M. This is the more general formula, and B = uH is really just a special case. But it's this special case that allows us to use B and H interchangeably since they are directly proportional to each other. It's just a matter of changing the units you use or attaching a constant to your equations).

    Definitely terrorist. I personally think America should launch a preemptive strike.
