idk how to technology so i need your help. i recently moved into a much bigger house so i want to look into setting up some surround sound for the living room but also be able to bump some jams when the situation calls for it.

what exactly do i need to make these dreams come true?
stores sell these all in one home theater joints that are like 200 bones and its a DVD player and speakers + sub, but then i am like wtf, do i need a receiver to run all this jazz?

currently in the living room we have a 360 and our cable box just hooked up directly to our TV, i am guessing if we want to keep it all going we will need a receiver.

i really have no idea what i am doing someone plz help me help me

see i am looking at something like this! but there is no receiver, idk how important a receiver is but i know they are pretty important. i see people with them and also i see their prices and they are not cheap.

A good sound system is expensive. A decent one is still pretty pricey. Do not get an all-in-one box of shitty speakers and a tuner. You'll regret it.

Stay the hell away from Best Buy and go to a specialty store that only deals in decent to excellent home theater equipment.

None of the equipment you want needs to match either. Many times you can get a better sound from mixing the manufacturers of the tuner and individual speakers.

A decent tuner will run about 300-500 bucks alone.
You can expect to pay anywhere from 50-300 per speaker.
-Subwoofer
-Center Front Channel
-Right Front Channel
-Left Front Channel
-Center Rear Channel
-Left Rear Channel
-Right Rear Channel

Also you don't want to exceed the max load per channel or the max total load on the tuner. More power = more money.

This shit is the brass ring and they are expensive.
