Did Myspace die?

I'm don't much care about it, but I'm still a little curious.

It seems like a year ago, everyone I know was active on myspace. At some point, it just died, and everyone made the switch to Facebook.

The place is a ghost town now, at least as far as my contacts go. The last bulletin I had posted by any of my friends was in June 2009 - in contrast to coming home to over 300+ status updates/etc on Facebook everyday.

So, is it completely dead for anyone/everyone else - or maybe most of my friends (mid-20s, early-30s... some even in their 50s and 60s, older relatives, etc) just don't fit the MySpace demograph?

Like when I first said when it came out. Fad. It's as dead as much as Geocities is alive. Different generation, different website. Facebook is the current Fad mixed with Tweet, soon both of those will go by the wayside too.

Except myspace was horrible, and im glad I never used it. Tweet will die faster than Facebook.

i only use myspace for music now. i can listen to alot of full albums on there.

Myspace died a long time ago, but still high school age people use it quite regularly. Once you hit college you pretty much move on to facebook or no social networking. Twitter shouldn't even count because all it should be used for is celebrities.

Reasons people stopped using Myspace in no particular order:

- Annoying autoplayed music on every profile
- Lack of default privacy options
- Stupid website layout formats
- Allowing use of animated backgrounds/fonts that made profiles unreadable
- Search functions for finding friends was terrible

I mean, it was meant to be a site for music more than social networking but still.. what it turned into was horrid.

Oh man I hated this so much. I think my profile also has autoplaying music, but I didn't even make my own profile (hence why I'm not sure about the music)

Wasn't there a study recently that said the social networking site you used was correlated to your education level and age?

It said Myspace was still popular but widely used by highschool and younger kids, facebook was middle age middle income middle education, and some other site I have never heard of was high income high social status.

LinkedIn is like a social networking site for your professional resume. So I suppose that would be correct.

I use FB for friends and LI for business, I cant think of anything else that would fill its spot, unless it's so high class ive never heard of it.

alot of my friends used it when I deleted my account recently. so much more activity on FB though, and I like their simple layout. some Myspace layouts were just hideous. it is good for music though, and an anime site I visit a lot uses Myspace video to stream their content. beats Megavideo. :D
