    Cant get HDMI to work

So I bought a new computer from Dell during Black Friday and fell in love with it. It came with a monitor that has an HDMI port, and the video card is a GeForce GT 220. I was fine running the display (Dell ST2010) through a VGA cable, but I finally decided to try HDMI and bought 2 1.3 HDMI cables from amazon.

I have tried connecting both cables from tower to monitor and when i choose the HDMI input source it doesnt detect any HDMI signal. I downloaded the latest drivers for my Nvidia vid card and it won't even give me the option to change to HD anywhere on the control panel. I am pretty sure this video card is supposed to have HD capability, but the Nvidia's site description of it doesnt give me concrete proof. Did I get stuck with a video card that lacks the capability or could there be some other gross error I'm overlooking?

P.S. I tried speaking to Nvidia live support and they really didn't help at all.

I'ts possible your PC model might be using a slimmed-down version of the GT220 which doesn't support HDMI. (But then again, if there's an HDMI port on your PC, I don't know why it would be there if it didn't work.)

Do you have any other sources you could test with (Xbox 360, PS3, blu-ray or DVD player) to rule out the monitor?

Unlikely, since you can also connect a graphics card to a monitor using a DVI->HDMI cable.

If the PS3 works, your PC should work, too. The PS3 outputs everything HDCP protected, that's the only "feature" of HDMI that could break your setup (if the monitor can't decrypt HDCP and your graphics card outputs a HDCP protected signal).
