Favorites Google Chrome

Ok I am going to put the picture at the bottom.

Let me explain my issue and what I am trying to achieve.

I use favorites all the time. I want to have a favorites button but not an entire bar taking up real estate on my screen. I just want a button that will drop down my favorites.

In the image the top is what Google Chrome looks like. The middle is what it looks like with the favorites bar active which makes a whole bar to place favorites on. Finally the third is my Microsoft Paint version of what I want. I want a favorites button on there so I may access my favorites quickly without a whole extra bar in my way.

So basically what I am asking: Is what I want possible in any way or do I have to face the facts that this is not going to happen?

Most users of Google Chrome enjoy its minimal interface. So why use a clunky toolbar to display your bookmarks full-time if you don't have to? Like many other excellent Chrome features, adding a miniscule bookmarks menu button is only a command line switch away!

Just right click your Chrome shortcut and choose properties. In the target box, add a space and --bookmark-menu after chrome.exe. the result should something look like this:

C:\Users\LeeM\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Applicat ion\chrome.exe --bookmark-menu

What it will do is add a bookmarks drop-down button to the end of your main toolbar near the tools menu that will do what you're looking for, as far as I can tell. I don't think you can adjust the position to push it to the left of the address bar, but that seems to be the only thing missing.

I really dont see a need for favorites in chrome. The speedial + omnibar seems to work fine for anything I need to get to. Just wish it had vimperator.
