    Anti-Depressants

Hey I was just wondering if any of you have been on anti-depressants and which ones have worked for you. I was on Celexa for a short term one year cycle and it did great, but once I came off them I went right back to how I was before. Once I went back on them they stopped working for me. I'm looking for something new. Any suggestions?

I took prozac for a number of years when i was younger, and that worked great for me. But really, talk to your psychiatrist. Some meds will work better for some people than others, so it is just a matter of trying different things until something well works for you.

My suggestion is go to a professional and keep going. You won't get anywhere trying to self-medicate or drug shopping.

Yeah, I've been seeing a therapist for years now and she and my family doctor have been working together to get a treatment plan that works, but they're only trying to up the dosage of Celexa, and won't listen when I say it no longer works, and I only feel doped up and zombified on a higher dosage. A friend of mine took Prozac and went pretty psychotic, so that one kind of worries me, hah.

Just be clear with your doctor that you will NOT take any more celexa, and want to try something else. If that does not work, see a different doctor. As far as Prozac goes, remember these medications affect different people differently. I took it for around 4 years, and never once had a noticeable side effect. Your experience may or may not be the same. If you try a medication, and you feel worse on it than you do off it, then don't take it (or try a different dose, etc), and try a different one. Eventually you will find something that works well for you.

I've been on Xoloft for about half a year now and I've had next to no side effects. It took a little tweaking to get the dosage right, but now that it is correct (75mg daily) I've felt fantastic. I've gone a week or so without it by accident and still felt quite nice, just a few down spots, but as a whole it's done me a lot of good.

There are many out there, the only one that have worked for me is Paroxatine. However, it KILLED my sex drive completely, and I could not even orgasm. Other than that really really really annoying side effect, it did it's job.

Often prescribed for depression or anxiety, primarily since its new on the market and costs an arm and a leg price wise.

Also it doesn't do anything besides zombie mode. Unless you're into that.

I want to scream hallelujah into the heavens and have a botox smile. What do you recommend?

Have you tried exercising? Serious question.

My mom suffers from depression and she just exercises to deal with it....

Maybe try Lexapro. It's an updated version of citalopram called esitalopram. Although its somewhat expensive since its patent isn't up and there is no generic.

I've tried, and I horseback ride a lot, but it's really hard to get motivated to do anything other than lay in bed and stare at the ceiling a lot of times.
