and how fast can i get one if so?
yes, and I think a month maybe?
Are you planning on working or taking courses or what not?
If you're visiting, you need a passport.
[edit] dabble posturu
it's all good, i called united airlines and they sold me a visa on the spot. AU is one of those safe countries that you can do over the phone. PHEW
They sold you a visa? Visas aren't sold by airlines generally.
I don't believe you need a visa to go to Australia from Canada since both are commonwealth countries and probably have a reciprocation agreement concerning visitors. You will need a passport however, and those can take 4-6 weeks to acquire.
You will also need to have a return ticket or they won't let you in.
ya i needed a visa, united gave me one over the phone for 20$ for the processing fees because they have direct access to the ETA which i think is the tourism board or something for AU.
i was all panicked because everything is booked i have my tickets and i'm leaving today but didnt think to check to see if i needed anything until i did my preflight checkin where they said i cant check in without a visa lol
ALL IS NOW GOOD off to the land of wafik.
Hope you don't stop over / fly over the USA, you generally need a passport or some other travel documents for that.
from toronto to australia my only other option was vancouver direct to sydney (i think) but since i didn't book i didn't have the choice. i have a passport already as i do quite a bit of international travel, ive never needed a visa to any of the countries ive visited and i've been to quite a few in europe and asia.
i'm pretty sure im all set, i did check in online and picked seats etc. phone UA was actually the best experience ive ever had with any travel related person, she was super helpful and did tons of stuff she didnt have too. i even got a bump from econ to econ plus, only extra leg room but w/e ill take it for a 15 hour flight
oz = best trip/place i've ever been to, hope you have a great time (live in boston)
I got a passport at the end of the year before last and was days away from booking a 3-month stay in Japan.
Not going into the story as it's a buncha bullshit, but it didn't happen and it's one of the biggest regrets of my life. Now I have a passport that I've never used and I wanna go somewhere! Australia sounds like a blast.
If I save the money though, the Japan trip IS scheduled for April of next year (birthday wooo). I've been taking Japanese and working out the details with a friend who lives there so the trip is actually better planned now than it was then, but yea, I still wish I went back then.
I'll make a thread about it closer to then to see what I need/should do! Have fun on YOUR trip, bring pics and details back!
japan is a nice place, all weeaboo jokes aside, you should go. i'm gonna go again in march.
how is public transportation in australia? i'd like to visit but don't want to take taxis everywhere. would prefer rail or bus system. how significant are these systems in say, sydney or melbourne?
