Firefox locking up

I did the recent update to firefox and now it locks up whenever too much is going on.

I'm used too having at least 5 tabs open and now it will lock up and I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to end process of Firefox. It takes about 2 minutes for it to end, not instantly like usual, it even locks up sometimes on the random image thread now.

I wasn't going to ask for help for a while but this is getting annoying.

first thing to try, disable all your addons, then retry, you can re-enable them one by one to find the one that is likely causing your issue

Only thing I can think of would be a similar issue I had. I created the extra boolean in about:config

"config.trim_on_minimize"

Got rid of it and fixed my problem. If not, have you done anything to the about:config settings you could've possibly f'd up?

As mentioned so far, I'd try Firefox's Safe Mode (can be found in the start > programs folder) to temporarily disable everything (make sure not check the boxes that come up unless you want your changes to apply to non-safe mode)and see if it gets you anywhere.

The change Omniyoji is talking about affects the way Firefox handles memory in that it releases memory when minimized, which is nice if you leave it on frequently, but also causes it to start slightly slower when returning to use. I don't think this is what your problem is, though,

I don't think I've done anything to mess with the memory. I've uninstalled every add-on and I haven't noticed any problems yet.

I'm not sure if it is a random memory problem but I'll add that in if that's the problem.

It mainly locks up when I have something like a youtube video in one tab and looking at the random thread or anything with mass amounts of pictures or videos.
