Summary on a summary of a poem, 3 pages long
concisely
Let me guess, the poem was less than half a page to begin with
The poem is incredibly long actually lol...
"Song of Myself" 52 stanzas http://www.princeton.edu/~batke/logr/log_026.html
Summary is 30 pages long
sounds pretty easy if you ignore the actual page number
It prolly is easy but the concept of summarizing a summary sounds just like I am just repeating what he is saying thus plagiarizing
Reinterpret in your own words. Going over the major points in 1/10 of the space should be easy you slacker.
Maybe even disagree with some of his assessments and provide a cohesive argument for why. Your teacher will suck your dick if you do this.
first sentence of every paragraph
True I suppose. Almost feels like I am just rewriting it but I must be making this harder than it really is.
It will be a bit of a challenge to find an arguement to go against and have support for it given the nature of this use of imagery... my own interpretation alone isn't credible enough and he didn't seem to like the idea of using sources besides just the summary and the full poem if necessary.
I always hated writing summaries just because they always give you requirements like minimum one page.
But if I'm trying to write a summary I want to keep it short, like a paragraph.
Reminds me of a time I was required to write a sample memo for a business management class and they wanted it to be like 3 pages but I couldnt get past the mental block of it HAVING to be one page.
I don't normally mind writing to the required amount of pages and in this case shouldn't be that difficult considering the length of the summary and the poem itself, not to mention the double spacing rule in place.
My first inclination was that I couldn't really choose to agree or disagree without other sources (which I can't use) but now I am starting to wonder...
Literary criticism is all opinion, they just cite others to appear like more of an authority.
100% serious.
i would kill for an assignment like this
i let word write my summaries
I don't like assignments with page limitations... I am already halfway done and I've only gone through a few pages of the summary. Structured it so it talks of "before the experience," then "during the experience," and finally the "emergence" of the experience.
The "during" portion I'll prolly summarize tighter since it is a majority of the entire poem and are just different experiences (reminds me of flashbacks) linking to the same thing. I suppose I can put my opinions somewhere in the conclusion since I am tight for space already...
This is true now that I think about it considering my professor has admitted this many times.
