    PS3 Chat Problem

So I put this problem in the Skate3 thread, but I can't seem to find a solution so I figured I'd ask it as it's own thread.

Last week when Skate 3 came out I bought a PS3 Bluetooth so a friend and I could chat on the PS3 instead of having to chat through Xbox while playing on the PS3. He had gotten a bluetooth from a friend at work already, but hadn't really messed with it (his is not the PS3 Bluetooth). After some initial problems we both got ours hooked up and, while not up to par with Xbox party chat, it wasn't too far off and was a pretty good experience.

Jump ahead to later that night and every experience since, the chat has just been absolutely atrocious, sometimes bridging on unusable. I have a constant popping/crackling sound in my mic that will not stop and doesn't start until Skate 3 boots up. Once I start a private game and invite him in, he such crackle over his voice it's sometimes near inaudible, but that part sometimes clears up. What does not clear up is the fact it sounds like he is talking into a tin can. His voice is constantly reverberating and when mixed with the crackle, even when he is audible it's just flat out annoying at how it sounds.

What's the deal? Is it one or both of our headsets? He said he has the same problem as I do with the sound of the crackle + the tin can sound, but his issue never seems to be as bad as mine. Is there some settings I'm failing to adjust? Any help would be appreciated since I really enjoyed my first experience with it and I enjoy it 100xs over the wired Xbox headset, but the way it is now is unbearable.

Pulling answers out of ass, go into your audio accessory settings and both of you adjust the volume for your incoming/outgoing device, also interference from other wireless devices possible? It also could be his headset if he got a shitty off brand one, I have no problems incoming or outgoing with the PS3 bluetooth.

For the sake of possibly ruling out buggy software (Skate 3), have you tried voice-chatting over the built-in XMB Audio Chat?

Have not; I attempted a private chat when trying to figure out how to talk over the headset and it said that you have to have a camera of some sorts. Is there a different way to private chat?

I think both of ours are set on the default 3 when you go into the audio settings. Other than that default number and choosing the input/output as our bluetooths, I don't think he (I know I haven't) has adjusted anything else. What other wireless devices would cause interference? My cellphone and my laptop are the whole wireless devices that sit around me, but neither of those were missing the first time; worth a shot I guess shutting them off. As for his headset, I'm not sure what the brand was, but it's definitely not the PS3 or anything name I recognized. I'll ask him later as per the name, but this is what I thought may be the case. That being said, why would I have the crackling sound in my headset before I even invite him, or is some crackling always going to be there?

Go in and play with the levels, sometimes 4 will be clearer and better then 2, and as far as interference could be many things, I know when I first turn my headset and PS3 on before I put the game in Ill pick up everything coming from a baby monitor all the way across the house, but then once the game starts I can't hear it anymore.
