    Death shirt

No this is not an awesome story about a shirt that murders people in their sleep to harvest their spinal fluid in order to lubricate a gigantic super brain bent on discovering the perfect recipe for a spicy chicken sammich.

Getting a bit older, I have seen quite a few old friends from HS pass. Recently a kid I went to HS with died and the response via facebook has been the standard except for one thing. I found this post.

"anybody wantin a RIP REDDY shirt....they have my profile pic on file at cosmic colors....just ask for it.....RIP J Reddy...i love u bruh and will keep ur memory alive always!"

Why is it that every time someone dies that somebody has to make a damn T-shirt? I understand wanting to have remembrance of someone, but couldn't there be a much better way to enrich the memory of a loved one? Why put 20 dollars in the hand of a t-shirt vendor who uses the same damn cookie cutter angel wings and elaborate cursive writing to represent the memory of someone you loved? Take the money and put it towards a worthwhile charity in their name. Setup a college fund for their sibling, widowed spouse or child. If you truly love someone and want to help cement their purpose in this world, do something useful. Buying a t-shirt you wear a few times then leave stashed in a box in the basement in a few years does little. A memory is just that, a memory, unless it invokes action.

I would pay $50 for the first shirt you mentioned, at least.

    Can't say that I've experienced death t-shirts.

Around here, I do see a fair amount of "In loving memory" stickers and decals on car windows. I always felt it was a little absurd to remember a dead loved one right next to the lopsided Volcom or hot pink Salt Life decals.

I'd rather see em sell t-shirts and hopefully have the proceeds go to the family of the deceased than see "In Loving Memory..." on the back window of someone's car or truck.

    *Edit*
Damn you, beaten to the punch...Guess I shouldn't afk if I want to be first =/

What's sad is that these funds are just going into someones pocket. I would be all for this if the proceeds went to a charity or worthy cause.

I've been wondering how best to mourn the death of my buddy Chris last week... while the "help his two children" idea is nice, a t-shirt is wearable, fantastic!

The best part is, he lived and died in an entirely different state, so EVERYONE who sees me will be completely confused!

When my younger sister died of cancer
(15). She was semi popular(on the cheerleading squad). What my mom did was get a shirt with her pic on it obviously and all her friends/fam bought a shirt. So when ever we gathered together. It was another little way to remember/celebrate her.

But iv only worn it twice. I never wear it randomly unless its something thats related to her. Fuck that noise im to cool for that. Weird thing tho. My Grandmother died about 5 months after my sister. Mom didn't make a shirt for her. Meh

Now that I am thinking about it. I guess this has nothing to do with the person who died, but more with the people who didn't want them to. Coping mechanisms come in many forms and something you wear is readily visible. While something less tangible might have more lasting value, it is not as present as something physical and helps to soothe in the short term. Perhaps a combination, such as a plaque at a memorial garden where a tree was planted in their name, or some such. Hell, you hippies could think of a ton of things like this. Again, my problem has been that money is going into someones pocket instead of doing something worthy to carry on their memory.

Grandmother on a T-shirt.. "Your shirt is wrinkled! Oh wait..."

It's a bit creepy to me if it's someone I was close to. My sister has a funny shirt she made many moons ago with her picture 'photoshopped' (lol) next to the dream-boat Corey Haim.. I have never felt more like wearing it than I do now >

Haven't seen this done since I moved to SC, but back up in MA, it was always the puerto ricans that were big into the oversized memorial tshirts/car decals/etc.

Fuck T-Shirts, when I die, I want them to sell vibrators with my name on them.

Goddamn foreigners don't appreciate our freedoms.

We buy flags when buildings get attacked, bumper stickers when we go to war and shirts when somebody dies.
