    FFXI graphics increase

    Ok so restarted ffxi today and got it on my new desktop. Looks sweet in small mode but when go full screen gets a little grainy. Would like it to be really smooth, i remember there being a way to do increase the resolution and textures past what FFXI allows but cant remember how does anyone remember or have a good link? all google ones just turn up what it is.

    Did you raise the Display or Background resolution? The Background resolution should be increased to at least match your Display resolution to get rid of the PS2-quality graphics. Though if you make your Background 1.5 or 2x the display resolution you can get some really nice graphics.

    Ya should make background double makes a huge difference. Almost completly gets rid of the jagged edges on on everything.

    Are you using Win 7 64 bit? If so make sure you click on... "x64" in the launcher_gui.exe.

    The resolution you want to use is huge, bigger resolution = smaller text?

    I've tried going into the registry and chaning 03/04 for 2084(what ever site suggested i forget exact) and all it does is lag and look exact same. Tried windower gui with 64 bit hit and the 1k/1k selected nothing helps. it looks good when its small screen but 23' monitor useless when its not full screen lol. Any guides to help get top quaity?

    What is your monitor's native res?

    The best the game has looked for me in the past is setting the screen and bg res to the same as my monitor's native res, and playing around with the mip maps and drawdistance to where everything looks great without lagging my game to hell.

    If you're dicking around in the regedit try this.

    0001=1920
    0002=1080
    0003=2048
    0004=2048

    That's basically exactly what the wiki says, but specifically for your res. You can double the values if you like.

    0000 is your MIP mapping. You can crank it. Things get wonky at around 6 (ultra blurry). I personally like 4... makes it a little hazy and dreamy. A lot of people like 2. This has one of the most noticeable effects in my opinion since it's basically antialiasing the game for you. It's kind like playing with a Gausian Blur on everything in the distance.

    Also, if you're editting the registry directly make sure you're not typing in 1920 and then leaving it set to hex.

    I just installed W7 Home Premium, the 32 bit version, and I can't get my 2048x2048 BG Res back. Can anyone guide me through how to do this, the Launcher GUI isn't working for it. Thanks

    You know, I had issues trying to set mine up originally too, when i got my new desktop fired up... finally after about 4 tries between windower and regedit it stuck, and couldn't really tell you why or how.

    I know I set GUI to 3840x2160, but regedit says 1600x1280 currently in 0003 and 0004; but when I had GUI set to same as I was trying to set regedit, it always ended up being like 720xwhatever... it was bizarro.

    I know this doesn't really help either... >.>

    How do I regedit though.. I run 1680x1050 so I guess I should do 3360x2100.

    Edit: I found it nevermind.
