I'm finally getting a new computer!

And I'm building it! (Amazing I know!)

But I want to make sure that it doesn't need tweaks. Yes, I know you have lots of threads like this, but consider this a continuation of my thread here: http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93812 I'm getting the desk on Monday-ish, and I've saved enough to comfortably make this purchase, lose my job, and still be able to make student loan payments for a full year before becoming delinquent lol (*'-') I'm crazy, but hey.

All input is wanted as I'm not the most tech-savvy person (I know, using "savvy" immediately makes me inept, but I can follow instructions pretty well!)

    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=12075911

A few notes before you go WHY NIROKUN WHY!

    - Yes, I want a big monitor. I've always had small (but somehow hilariously large) CRT's, and I'd like something I could keep for a long time and use as a TV.

    - I couldnt decide on a keyboard that I really fell in love with, so I got one that went with the color scheme and didnt make my eyes burn.

    - It's for FFXIV

    Thanks guys

Is one 40GB SSD going to be enough space? I don't think Windows and FFXIV would fit on that <,< Maybe throw in a 1TB HDD or at the very least buy a bigger SSD.

But even more importantly than that: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-007-_-Product

Frys Electronic is constantly offering that 1055t with a 890GX motherboard for around $250 check their website here and there and get it from them

That's a lot of pricey stuff, though I guess the majority of the price pump up is from the big monitor. Man.. you don't know how happy I was to go from a 15.4" CRT Dell Monitor to my 22" Acer D:

Anyway.. I don't really see many issues. I mean the SSD being a little larger would be helpful of course. Can always check around other places like also mentioned for possible combo deals to save that extra bit of cash.

Nice case too! I've never heard of that.

I'll be recycling my current HDD (37.2GB LOL), and I have a 1TB external HDD. I was really planning on only putting the OS and FFXIV on the SSD. But now you're scaring me saying that it won't fit

And do I really need that "coolant goo"? I thought it would already be applied to whatever it's supposed to be on, and it was my job not to touch it ever lol :D

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but shipping seems "unavailable" at this time. I'll check again later.

I know! I'm so excited to have a big monitor I just rationalize it as an expense that greatly improves my quality of life lol (*'-')

I'm still trying to bring the price down, but currently (not including the Fry's deal above), I can get everything down by ~$150ish with combo deals, rebates, and shopping around. It's like ~$1160ish without the monitor, which I think is great

Way too expensive for a 16:9 monitor. And yeah, 40GB probably won't even be enough for windows and 14.

FFXI with all its expansions takes up about 9.5 GB. I wouldn't doubt XIV being at least double that. If the original XIV doesn't exceed your storage space, expansions definitely will.

And the Arctic Silver 5 compound works just a little bit better than the gel that comes standard on your heatsink. Their website says "3 to 12 degrees centigrade lower CPU full load core temperatures than standard thermal compounds or thermal pads when measured with a calibrated thermal diode imbedded in the CPU core." If you do decide to use it, just make sure you remove the old thermal pad and clean the area with rubbing alcohol (careful not to get anything else wet of course)

I could probably get that down to $1200 or so with combo deals. Also you do not want to rely on a 1TB External (UNLESS it is something faster than USB2.0) because the access times are horrendous. Let's see!

    $200 : i-INC iH252 25" 1080p 1920x1080 LCD

    $130 : Kingston 64GB SSDNow

    $280 : Biostar 890FX Motherboard + 1055T X6

    $330 : Win7 Home Premium + MSI GTX 470 (Code EMCYVNV39 for 10% ($30) off the card, ENDS TOMORROW)

    $91 : Mushkin Silverline 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz @ CAS7

    $50 : Razer DeathAdder Left-handed Mouse

    $55 : 500GB Spinpoint F3

$190 : 750w Antec Blue PSU + Antec 1200 Full Tower Case with code EMCYVNX45 (ENDS TOMORROW)

Total $1332. $1370ish after adding in a DVD drive and Keyboard.

Differences from what you were looking at:
    • 2" smaller monitor (same ratio and resolution)
    • 24GB larger SSD
    • 500GB Spinpoint
    • Faster memory
    • Board can crossfire/SLI at 16x/16x, drops IGP which is useless anyway
    • $300+ cheaper
    • Better case, stronger PSU for future upgrades (SLI, OCing, etc)

Just wanted to pop in and say that I greatly approve of your monitor choice! I bought a P2770HD last January, and reviewed it on NewEgg titled Going Big?

If you really need a large all-In-One monitor this is a great option. The only gripe I have about it is that the touch controls are completely shity. Like I said in my review, you wont ever need to use them anyway because of the remote.

This, along with the size, is the reason I want this monitor. No others have as many connections that allow it to grow in functionality, and wanting a big monitor just kind of cements it where it is. I do wonder though, how does the whole "Rose Black" thing look? It's really hard to see it. Everything I have will be black, with a few scattered blue LEDs.

I got the pretty G11 Keyboard, increased the size of the SSD to 64GB, and "downgraded" to a comparable PSU. All for an $15.46 increase (*'-') Fiddling with rebates is fun :D

It's barely noticeable, but now that you mention it I can't stop looking at it!

No really, it's perfect aesthetically speaking. The border is black, the tip of that is deep red, and it's covered with a plastic see-through bezel that resembles glass (the stand is the same way). The Costco in my area still has them on display last time I checked. If you wanted to do a little window shopping before you buy it by all means go for it. =)

Here's a few pictures of it

And a larger image of the last monitor but, it's not that good of quality. I need to buy a new camera. >.>
