General Itunes question (Incoming stupid one)

Ok my Brother in law, got a third gen Ipod that needs to be upgraded to IOS4

But the problem is that his Apple Store account is managed by his mom (he is 12)

When we connected his Ipod to my Girlfriend PC it auto synchronised it and he lost all his apps, music etc until he resynchronised with his mom PC.

My questions is how, can I plus his Ipod on my GF PC, without autosynchrnize and update his ipod with my account without him loosing his apps music and stuff

Preferences > Devices > Tick "Prevent iPod's and iPhone's from synching automatically"

Well I just got my official answer, when I click update to 4.0.2 it says That he will loose all his music since it's not the same PC he synchronize it with.

Since his music is vital to him he will updat it when he goes back to his mom house
