what is the most beneficial/effecient way to remove stretch marks?

BESIDES LASER SURGERY. i dont have insurance to cover THAT portion. and anything with the word "laser" to me screams out $

so im looking for any alternatives specifically for darker skinned people.

im counting on you, Atreides and prego/bg moms!

someone told me to use cocoa butter cream, but if anything, it made my overall skin DARKER, and made the marks a bit more obvious. im of indian heritage as well, so i dont know if the whole afro american cream shit will work on me (although the bump stopper for shaving does, go figure) but im very open minded to what alternatives there are for me to at least hide them a little better.

here's a pic to show you how severe it is lol

it goes down my shoulders and forearms like a tiger, and its all over my top abs and belly button, but those a bit more inconspicuous.

im also open minded to skin lightening creams to try to blend it in. but i have no idea how to do research for this crap. all the ingredients are completely foreign to me, so after reading the responses on the shampoo threads, im hoping i can get some kind of insight on these.

There is no way to get rid of stretch marks and anyone who says that that cocoa butter stuff works is a liar. I have not tried laser myself.

Over in the UK they have stuff called Bio Oil... it like helps reduce the visibility of scars/stretch marks. Works pretty well, but there is no quick fix to em. When they fade and scar over like yours are (when they are still dark/purpley is when the dermis is split and they are easier to remove, they go whiteish when it scars over) its harder to get rid of them. It'll prolly help for the darker ones on your shoulder. Everyone has em though.. even if they are really pale. My brother got most of his from really fast growth spurts lol. Fortunately for me, I can hide mine by staying epicly pastey lol.

Bio Oil is in America it seems...

i think, if anything, it made it stand out more lol. i know they are perm, but those guys at the health store said you can blend it or put some creams on it and have it actually just fade away. but they were suggesting like 100$ creams and shit, and looking by the ingredients, i really had no idea what i was buying. i just need to do some research i guess.

if it helps, i take fish oil supplements every single day, im out in the sun at least 1 hour a day, and i use those aloe vera body wash thingies. maybe i should just wait it out?

Over time they will fade some but they will never go away. The creams & oils just make your skin look better (so does any other moisturizer), but once it is washed off your skin looks the same. I'd be skeptical of things like that, and some people want to believe that it is working so bad (they trick themselves into thinking it looks better) that they will tell you it works.

PS. If you notice on that website there are no before and after pictures under testimonials.

Sadly nothing will really work. Creams / oils will have no real effect on old marks, they can help skin heal a bit faster / not rip as much. The creams and oils can stop you getting them but not get rid of them imo. That is why pregnant ladies that rub those types of oils into their bumps can often come out without marks at the end.

Even laser treatment isn't 100% Thou I haven't looked into any newer types of laser in the last few years. A couple of years ago people didn't think they were that great for them.

If you want to try changing the skin tone around them this isn't a bad place to start looking into it http://www.skincaretalk.com/skin-lightening/

Richardd, you're in the same boat as me and I've tried the expensive shit, I've tried the cocoa butter shit, etc. and nothing works. Mine are exactly where yours are but not "quite" as prominent on the top of the shoulder. Mine actually are more on the bottom of my arms and my stomach. I guess it's what I get for losing 100 pounds.

I still have my stretch marks on my back. They were originally purplish, but over the years they changed to a light silvery colour. Not overly noticable. I always tell people they're war wounds from a POW camp.

Only place I have stretch marks are behind my knees and sort of in my thigh area. They're pinkish. Not really noticeable, though. Always kind of wondered how I got them! I've never put on/lost that much sudden weight or anything.

It's actually not losing the pounds that results in stretch marks. Stretch marks occur when skin elasticity & development lags behind rapid growth due to weight gaining, muscle building, growth spurts during puberty (including boob formation).

Most oils/creams don't work after the fact... I think anyway? I hear it's usually you have to apply it while you are going through a growth spurt, gaining weight, pregnant, or gaining muscle, or something else...

Usually stretch marks fade away to a point where it's barely noticeable on their own. It may just take a while. Just make sure to eat a healthy clean diet, drink lots of water, get some sun, and perhaps some other things that may be effective.

Yours actually don't look too bad, honestly.

What Weiign said. Just deal with it. And think: 'would I rather have tiger stripes or my old body?'

This is just a vanity thing, if it really bothers you then go get as dermatologist with a laser.

Worst come to worst... say they are scars. Chicks dig scars...
