AppHang with FFXIV Install Disc

Trying to install FFXIV, but I keep getting apphang'd when I put my DVD in the drive. My drive definitely works, as I recently did a clean install of Windows7. I also attempted to install Crysis through DVD-ROM and that worked fine as well.

Any advice?

edit: It even works with the FFXIV Making of Eorzea disc. It's crap like this that makes me wish everything was distributed digitally. I never have these problems with Steam.

been watching a linkshell mate have the same problem, ended up just having to download the ISO. he tried everything to no prevail.
