Ffxivsetup.exe - Bad image dx3d9_41.dll during installation

I have a problem installing FFXIV on my new computer. I run the installation and select my language and an error pops up.

"FINAL FANTAST XIV:ffxivsetup.exe - Bad Image"

"C:\Windows\system32\D3DX9_41.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

I click on an another error, same kinda just X3DAudio1_6.dll as the file name. I click OK again and I am prompted to download an newer version of directx.

I Click accept and it downloads and returns me to the choose your language screen.

Choose my language and the same errors pop up again and it prompts me to download directx again.

I am running WIndows 7 home premium which came with directx 11.
I have an ATI radeon hd 5450 1gb graphix card.

I have attempted to update directx through Microsofts webiste multiple times. I have also opened the dx_march2009 folder on the FFXIV installation disc and taken out the dx3d9_41.dll fill from the appropriate folder and placed it directly in the system32 folder. Also I installed the game on my wifes laptop and copied it across the network on my computer and I still receive the same error.

Anyone have any ideas?

you seem to have deeper problems if microsoft's patch isnt working and I would recommend a reformat of your pc until you can update your directx through microsoft.

On a separate not SE acknowledge CDs with bad images on them already so go to the company that sold you your game and get a replacement.

Try to fix your windows installer, if that does not work, bypass your router into your cable modem directly to download.


I'd be pretty certain it's a router issue (I've seen this before)
