Fixed FPS cap at 60, how to increase it?

I just got a new system, quad core i7 6bg DDR3 ram and all the bells and whistles and I got a cap of 60 FPS when running WoW. My friend has a computer thats about 5 years old running at 75 fps and I know I can run it higher but I have no idea what the issue is to why its capping at 60.

I have turned off VSync and put /console maxfps 0 which sets it to unlimited fps but still I'm capped at 60. What else might be putting a cap on my FPS?

Only thing I can think of is that perhaps your video card drivers are overriding the setting. Not sure how it is for ATI, but nVidia's control panel allows you to tweak global settings, along with setting up exe-specific profiles.

Your friend's 75fps sounds like it's v-syncd to his monitor as well, just his refresh rate is set higher than yours. Not sure why you'd want anything above 60fps given your monitor can't display it, and that it'd just add vertical tears into the mix, unless you just want to see what the raw numbers that your PC outputs in the game is.

I dont know that its overheating or having temperature issues, that sounds a bit farfetched to me. But just to be sure, download a program called Speedfan and post your temperatures. Also, what kind of video card do you have?

All i can think of is your settings arent allowing for applications to individually control them? possibly vsync is enabled in the video settings outside of WoW?
