I'm less sure now that I've had a day to thinkFrom a long-term storytelling perspective, Cody wasn't the guy. Maybe if he hadn't been injured last year and had been able to be part of the Bloodline story earlier, but it is what it is. There's still a lot of story left to tap in the Bloodline, especially around Sami, Jey, and Solo. Cody might be the guy who does it but I'm leaning towards the idea that the larger narrative might be worth holding out for.

If HHH does open Raw and announces a title split so Cody can go after one that’d be kinda funny because the same thing happened back in 2002 when the undisputed title was first split. Nobody could beat Brock so Eric Bischoff said fuck you we’ll make our own title, and just handed it to HHH. Now it was a little different cause HHH was a heel so he gleefully accepted it but Cody can’t do that.

For a wrestling storyline to work long term you need to see a logical endgame. We saw the solid recent example with Hangman's long crawl to bring AEW champ.

Not having Cody win last night feels like a mistake on the level of Starrcade 97. Year+ long storyline with a clear and obvious way to cap off at the biggest event of the year, and nope.

There's no clear endgame for whatever is happening with Roman. He's made the entire roster look like clowns and there's no realistic challenger available for him.

Well Edge is done with his Judgment Day feud.

I wouldn't mind a match where everyone Roman has screwed over takes part to dismantle the Bloodline. Sami, KO, Edge, Riddle, Orton, Drew, even Finn, they all gradually appear around ringside and neutralize any attempt of anyone to interfere.

Though I'm pretty sure the Roman as champ story doesn't end until Jey turns on him.

Maybe they called an audible to keep Balor from dying in the ring, but in terms of booking logic he had no reason to win yesterday.
